C6 A6 Running in Select Vs Drive What would be the advantage and/or disadvantage to keeping the A6 Trans in the Select position, but not using the paddle shifters Vs the Drive position on the console selector?
This would be more around town, not the open road.

It's not "Select"; it's "Sport". I always leave it in Sport mode. Faster shifts, stays in the power band longer. Much more fun to drive. There are no drawbacks other than reduced average fuel economy. It also kicks down quicker on the freeway.
