Default few ls2 swap questions

question i have for my ls2 swap into my 99 frc

i wanna ditch the c5 oil pan since i heard the ls2 weighs less and holds a qt less and frees up alot better space and i can get one cheaper. im not 100% sure but can my ls1 dipstick tube be used or no? what about swapping the sensor on the pan over to the ls2? whats all needed? i can get a 06' ls2 pan for cheap

I would count on it freeing up some space, great idea if you are doing ft mount turbos. The C6 pan should work,I think the GTO pan is different.Sensors and oil temp adapter will work.Dipstick will work.

Thats what we use.You lose the capacity by losing the wings the C5 pan has.

Yes you will need some other stuff. From memory you will need:

Cam sensor harness extension.
MAP sensor harness extension.
Knock sensor harness extensions.
Relocate the knock sensors from the valley pan to the sides of the block.
Adaptor harnesses if using LS2 injectors.
Adaptor harness if using LS2 throttle body.

You will have to grind wither the block or the motor mount for clearance.

That is all that I can think of right now.

Timing cover with cam sensor if you dont have a complete LS2 and be sure you have the correct crank reluctor for your application, should be a 24X not a 56x

It is on the passengers side. You either have to grind an unused boss off of the block or you need to clearance the motor mount.

There is a picture either here or on Corvette Forum that shows what needs to be done. I can't find it right now though...
