Default Mgw 30% shifter

I just purchased the MGW 30% after talking to whom I presume was the owner. I ask him if his shifter had rattle problems and he said no. I open the package and low and behold, there is a disclaimer for rattles...saying it might rattle. I'm like...WTF ? So, I install...take it for a drive and it rattled up a storm. Any thing over 3000 rpm...you better hold on to it or you will go crazy. I am pissed at this time but decide I will just have to live with it. Then I got to listening close and it sounded like the **** (one of those Q ball type). I took it off and pumped it full of Permatex form a gasket #2.

RATTLE GONE, WASN'T THE SHIFTER AT ALL !!!!
JUst in case anybody else has the rattle, thought I would pass this on !!

Mine rattles like that too. I know it is the ball making the noise. Will have to try that permatex as see if that fixes it.

Funny, they are all different. My B&M was hard to get into 5 or 6...this one doesn't like first or third. Just not smooth, but it isn't even broke in yet. Probably only have 100 overall shifts.

Mine is still quiet. I packed it full, using finger pressure and a paper towel of course. If not...what a mess...lol

Shift ***** can give a shifter a bad name. You can't tell where the noise is coming from.
By the way...the owner of MGW is one hell of a NICE GUY. Good product 1

Had me going for a second there too Mr. Pittman. I was like no way that thing rattles LOL! As for shiting to me that sounds like you dont have it adjusted to center properly or something. It does loosen up though aswell.

That is what Jimbo told me so I ripped it all out and centered it, but no change in position or shifting. Will see what break in does...drive it every day now that I am out of work.

Still running stock shifter in my 01 and wouldnt take for it. Tried many shifters in my mustangs and camaros and I think the stock one for the Vette is my best one for my needs.
