Default Head/Intake Question.

Hey wanted to get some feedback from some fellow LS2 Vette owners. Was looking into L92 and L76 intake. After doing some reading on different forums, found they need to be milled in order to maintain stock compression ratio. Just wondering if anyone had experience with this and exactly how much was needed (milling). Wouldn't buying heads from AFR for example be cheaper in the end due to less shop time?

My goal is to reach a little over 500 RWHP. Right now I'm sitting at 434. Car has G5X3 cam (along with springs, retainers etc.) , Kooks LT 1/7/8, 3" X and Bullets.

Thanks in advance.

500 rwhp with a 6.0L motor is going to be pretty hard. The people that have done it have a race only setup: a cam much bigger than a G5X3, basically straight exhaust, etc. L92 heads have 70cc chambers and LS6 heads have 65cc chambers. To mill heads, a good shop can do that for a $200ish. A set of stock L92 heads run about $800ish. So between the L92 heads, milling them, and upgrading springs, you would be around $1500. That is much less than a set of AFR heads: $2300ish.

I'd add a few bucks to fly cut the pistons too. If you mill the LS3 heads down enough to get to 11:1 CR or higher, PTV becomes an issue with larger aftermarket cams.

500 RWHP is easier to obtain with top notch aftermarket heads and a ported FAST. A goal of 470 - 480 is much more affordable using the L92 and a ported LS3 intake.

This is what I ended up with and I also debated L92's for months.

TEA ported my LS2 heads to thier updated stage 2 specs and they flow well! Only cost $1,000 to boot since I already had springs. Then go Ported FAST and get more cam choices than with the L92's, but thats just me.

Here is the flow chart and a few pics, TEA rocks, 325 cfm @ 600.
