How many miles is too many miles?
I hit WOT in 1-3 gears daily.
car is intake/exhaust and thats it.
Worked out very poorly. Car drove fine on test drive...turns out really nothing was maintained on it. Rear-end had almost no fluid in it when I changed it (no noise though), trans fluid had never been changed, clutch fluid was black, oil was black, back brakes were down to the pad, clutch is amazingly ok, shocks need to be replaced.
All of these things I enjoy changing. I didn't enjoy the crank bolt spinning out and pulling the engine. I'd shoot for spending a little more and getting one with less than 50k.
I'm sure these cars can run forever, my 5.0 mustang had 230k on it when I sold it original engine/trans and I trashed it every day...but that only works if you maintain them - and not everyone does that.
When di your gasket go out ?
My Z/28 is at 119k no issues there yet, weird.
It was weird. My motor started makin this rapid-popping noise under throttle, and everyone said it was bad gas. Took it several places. finally took it to LG Motorsports and when they put it on the dyno they could see the exhaust venting out. the gasket's middle layer (they are 3 piece metal) had worn away. there was no oil/coolant contact though so no big deal!
this was at 83 k.
