The stock rear end can handle a lot if you take care of it.
Eliminate wheel hop by installing QA1 shocks.
Put the hardened half shafts in and she will handle almost anything you through at her.
If you don't dump the clutch, and launch around 2500 rpm you won't glaze it and she will last a long time. Just use it till it breaks then worry about replacing it.
Not sure what you looking to run. A guy on the vette forums runs 10.8 stock on DR's.
Saw one on pinks running a 150 shot, tune and DR's running 9.8.
Like others have said you can spray the LS7, just make sure who ever does your tune has tuned LS7's before. Lot of people have gone boom by not using the right guy.
There is tons of info on this stuff on z06vette.com and corvetteforums.com and corvette-forums.com

EXACTLY!
BUT, I am looked at modded Z51's.
Cheaper, still handle great, faster than a stock Z06 (can be)
I would love to have a Z, but for the price increase, AND since my car will be a street car, and not on a road course...Z51 will keep me happy

But to say the Z06 is nothing special for the price is just plain naive. Z06 is a supercar, and the best bang for the buck in supercars the world over. You can add power to a C6 coupe and even do a wide body conversion, but it will never be a Z06. Mod for mod, a Z06 would destroy the C6 coupe in every category. Did you see the video of the supercharged Z06 A4 conversion that was running 8s in the 1/4 mile?
Stock block, stock crank, stock ported heads, stock intake... Try this with your stock block, stock crank C6 coupe.

There's a guy running consistent 10.8s in a 100% stock Z06 on drag radials, too.

I don't see **** on the URL you provided. If this is a drill out mod that will stop the pedal from sticking to the floor, I'M IN!

I would have prefered an 06 Z when I was shopping.
Anyone remember the hype when the 06 Z06 came out?
Since the 05 did not have a Z, the 06Z was getting a premium so they cost around $100k back then. Of course they have come down a bit. and a used '06 if not dogged is quite a "good buy".
But I bought all I could afford at the time which was an 06 Z51. And I didnt know it then but there was a mod and power going around and I caught it.

I have owned dozens of cars in my day, mostly F'bodys and a couple C5s and now own an 07 Z06. I've owned the car roughly a year now and I am STILL amazed at how awesome this car is...
There are very significant changes between the reg C6 and the Z06, most of them are not easily seen (as mentioned above). This is just truely and awesome car and has come down in value significantly! I saw an 06Z w/ 30k miles sell the other day for under $40K! What an absolute steal!
UL Lose, find yourself a Z06, you'll be very glad you did!
