It would be worth it to go with a C5Z but you may have to start your mods from scratch. Most are not modded. I wouldn't switch if youre considering a C5 coupe, you already have a H/C LS1. IMHO

Do it. You'll never look back (unless you live life a quarter mile at a time). I did. And a 2001 stock C5 coupe outhandled and outperformed my modded Trans Am in every way (except acceleration - T.A. had a cam and was running ~380rwhp). Of course my C6Z blows every single one of them away (my previous cars) bone stock.

i went from a h/c/n2o 00 z28 to my s/c'd 99 c5. i've found that working on my c5 is alot easier than working on my z28. now buying parts is a different story. there is a "corvette tax". all in all i'm more than happy with the difference in performance and handling.

Yeah, i love my firehawk !! but i definately want to go to the next level. Im probably going to get a C5Z .

My only reservation on the C5z is the lack of targa top. I loved having the t-tops off of my firehawk every time i took it out ( nice days only ).

I would probably get into road racing though .. so i dunno

Love my hawk. Its definetely more comfortable. But the Hawks power cannot compare, to the Z. Maybe cuz my Hawk is an auto.?? And then everything else really can't compare, except the stereo. You'd be suprised how much different the 2 cars are.
And you will miss the t-tops.

I love my C5...it was built for the corners and that's what I use the car for. I live in hickville and we have some seriously fun backroads to hit. No matter how hard I push the car, I always feel 100% confident in it's capabilities.

I have yet to run it down the 1/4. I love drag racing, but for me, that's not what I am best at and it's not what the car is best at.

All in all, C5s are GREAT cars for all around use and you can find some great ones for a song and a dance right now.

If you can, then I would definitely suggest buying up a C5Z. They are hitting some seriously ridiculous prices(considering the economy). They really are a completely different animal. If you can I would say hold on to the Firehawk, maybe turn in into a track car/weekend car. If you don't want to do that, I'd say go with the vette.

Well heres the plan ......

Buy the corvette ( finance ) and then strip a good amount of performance parts off of my firehawk and sell. Then sell the car.

I doubt my car would bring more than 13 on this board .... but if i sell parts and then sell the car by itself for @ a quick 10k ...i can get more like 17k or so out of the whole deal ( with parts offered at a cheap price).

then with the money i will be more liquid and can either pay back some of the vette or use the money for my house.

either way i spend a good amount of money every month feeding my habit , so i should atleast put it into a car that i can do more with.

My firehawk is great, but it is very limited. Im also getting a little older and would like to take my car on trips and what not.

Now i have a 6.0 motor i was putting the L92 setup on ..... would you still recommend the C5Z for 8k more average or use a stocker C5 and build on it ...starting with a 500+ hp motor

The Vette will be my weekend fun car ( occasional driver to work ), I have a 2008 Silverado LTZ for the daily commute.

I know that if it was my car I would buy a regular C5. I just think it looks better without the Z06 deck in the back. The Z06 also costs a decent amount as you mentioned. I don't know exactly how much you could save, but I'm sure it could be used on the motor you already have.

i went from an LT1 car('96 Z28 w/ mods) to my C5 coupe and never looked back. I know there is a BIG difference to the 'Hawk but i'd MUCH rather have the C5. They are just better in almost every way except stereo and the Vette tax.

Thumbs up

A Firehawk is nonetheless a car that was not massed produced so its more rare. The Z06 on the other hand, its an AMAZING car. I have a 2002 SS and I been driving a Z06 for like two weeks now and I am in LOVE.

I have plans to get one in the near future if the economy doesnt affect me
