Default 2005 - 2007 What year? Pricing Question

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get a C6 Z51. Looking for low miles (under 20k, under 10k would be ideal)

Perfect inside and out. My plans are to add:
Heads (maybe)
cam
Magnacharger
headers
exhaust etc

So i think I would want the LS3 in the 2007's, right?

I just didn't know if there was a big difference in price between the 2006 to 2007's? Money I save on the car, can go towards mods

LS3 started in 2008. With all you are doing, get the 2006.

I guess you've punted on the C6 Z06? I would still think about that. It takes heads, FAST & cam to get an LS2 to take a stock Z06 and the Z51 does not handle like a Z06. Buy the Z06 and move your spray to it.

2008+ have LS3. I would try and get one of those as cam only they make about 450-470rwhp depending on cam. Magnacharge it and you will whoop on most C6 Z's. I thought you were set on a Jetstream Blue Z? decide you don't want to fork over the extra $$$? if you want a cheaper C6 go with a later LS2 car('07) and do heads, cam, boost and be done with it. Depending on what you pay for it you could be in it MUCH cheaper then a Z. Oh and JSB didn't come out until '08 as well...

P.S. you sure you don't want a JSB Z? cause they SURE ARE SEXY

Yeah I was sold on the JSB C6Z

Then I decided I didn't want to strap myself with payments, for a car I only drive 6 months a year

I figure I'll pick up an 06, still throw a cam and maggie on it. still should put a hurtin' on Z06's out there. Sure, it wont handle like a Z, but, I live in Ohio lol. no fun roads, so it'll make a badass street car I think

LS2 should take 550-600rwhp like a champ. My GTO was at ~540 with the LS2.

LS3 would be nice, but I think all the extra money I'd spend for an 08 would be best spent on mods for an LS2?

You could put a hurtin' on a stock C6Z... at least until you had to turn. Then you'd smack the guard rail.

Once you decide to go FI, get the LS2 and save the money for mods. Headers and a blower is all you need for 600 RWHP. More than that and you need to start thinking bottom end. ECS makes a nice kit that will get you power & torque without needing a hood. Some good deals on Vortec kits out there right now too.

JSB is available on a regular C6 too. You could search for a 1LT Z51 in JSB. That would be the only reason to get an 08. However, the most cost effective plan is what you are thinking. You can be done for under $40k with 600 rwhp by following your plan.

i've always wanted a polished Maggie sittin' on top of my LS1 they sound WICKED too and less idling whistle noise then alot of centrifugal blowers. I've always been a far of how roots/twin screw superchargers sound

I saw an ECS vette for sale, but it has a Paxton on it, and he said it's about 4k rpms before it kicks in.

I just want the real low end torque that the Magna delivers.

I don't think that's possible with a Vortec or Procharger?? I'm partial to Procharger, my GTO had one and a LPE GT2-3 cam, boost hit hard about 3-3.5k rpms?

I'd save a lot of money by going that route, but the stock flat hood just makes it a little TO boring, don't you think? I love the LPE hood.

see if they make a carbon fiber VIS hood for the C6. Then you would have a pretty wicked hood. You could go with the RkSport Supercharger hood. It's subtle but nice

This is a graph from a car w/o headers. Add some LG Pros and you'd have probably another 50 lbs at 3000 rpm and 50 HP at 6000 rpm. Its not the same as a Maggie at 2000 rpm, but its pretty damn good and the top end is awesome with the potential for 700+. ECS uses a restrictor plate to boost low end and keep the top end from exceeding the powertrain's capability. This guy had an A6 without headers, so they really limited the top end.

Get the 06 LS2 since it will be the cheapest, then a 2.8H KB and a new hood. Thats what I would do.

Here is a guy on CF who owns an 08 Z06 and he rented an LS3 from Hertz. Good comparo from the guy. I may reconsider a Z06 myself, not sure.
