I've had mine since 2004, and it was a bitch to install. Me and the neighbor did it in a few hours. Not everything lined up, but once you played around with it everything was fine. No leaks, no codes just fine. After a few miles of driving around, and a couple stops I remember taking her on the expressway. Now keep in mind my car was bonestock and on a crappy factory tune (found that out when she dyno'd only 300/300 at the wheels, no timing, rich as hell a/f anyways) She really felt the same, UNTIL you went to pass someone on the expressway, or were entering the eway and getting on it. Nothing at low speeds, but the faster you go the better it seems to work. I have changed from bonestock 346, to headers, to cam, to heads with full boltons, and now I have a h/c 402 but one thing remains the same, I kept the VaraRam because it works. Just make sure you get the K&N filter for it because its much better then the included filter. K&N is much more durable.

I'm so on the fence, many say they work great. But the fitment seems to suck. I hear alot of good things about the Haltech, and they fit great.

I don't know what I wanna do.

Go to the Corvette Forum and look at the fastest C6Z06 "bolt-on" w/o internal mod cars. They are in the high 10's. Notice the common modification -Vararam! Link follows:

Thumbs up

Love the Vararam on my C6 and the C5's version of it likely yields even more performance gains than the C6 version does.

Fitment was fine. I just installed mine over the weekend. The hardest part was the fog light bolts. I will tell you that the Halltech is a good setup, but I don't think you'll see the performance gains at the track or on the highway like you will with the Vararam. I drove it for the first time today and it sounds cool as hell when you hammer it in second or third gear. I just put headers on, and I'm sure that made a huge difference in the car, but I know that the Vararam has something to do with it! I talked the whole thing over with East Coast Supercharging. What they said (basically) is that even though some people have issues with the quality, it's the absolute best setup you can buy performance wise! I don't think my unit was that bad overall quality-wise. Only problem I had was that I had to re-rivet one of the clamps on to the bottom half of the airbox. And for those thinking of getting the K&N filter, I don't know that I'd do it as the Vararam filter seems to be a quality piece. It's probably the best part of the whoe deal...!

I would definately get the K&N filter for insurance. Insurance against that crappy Vram Filter getting sucked into the motor. Very nice at first, but after awhile they start showing how flimsy they are. The K&N is much better IMHO.

Just curious...How long ago did you put your Vararam in? I'm wondering if I have a different filter?

Do you have the guauze type or the green one ??

I had the crappy double layer gauze. Installed in 2004 I think.

It's green. I do feel better now that you asked that. It seems like a really good filter to me. I actually compared it to my K&N that was in the stock airbox and I thought it stacked up rather nicely...!

You are good then man. No need for a K&N. You must have one of the newer or an old one with the updated filter. Too many people were suffering from gauze filter break down. Tearing after getting worn out and then being sucked into the motor. The grean and the k&n won't do that. Much stronger.
