Default need help on buying a vette c5 or c5z mod for mod??

so im thinking of selling my camaro. . . i want to get a c5 now i am wandering if its worth spending the extra money to get a c5z or just get the c5. here are my plans if i get one.

i already have an mti x1 cam (i was going to use in my ss)
i am planning on heads, cam,and the supporting mods too. springs and shocks, basically full suspension,

this car will be street driven and most likely never see a track
id like to get 425rwhp +or- 25

those are obviously the major differences b/w a c5z and a c5, so now i need you corvette owners to help me out on any other differences i may be missing... thanks, again i dont know too much on vettes im learning here

Get the Z man, has soooo many more upgrades. Plus it looks better and will have better resale.

id suggest the Z just based on the fact that you wont have to upgrade the suspension, you can easily get a cam only zo6 to put down 425rwhp.

now if you find a really really good deal on a regular c5 that you like then go that direction, but only if you are saving $5,000+ over the zo6.

I have owned both c5 z and c5 coupe. I love the looks of the z better than the coupe. Plus the z is a little bit lighter. You can use both cars as a daily driver or for weekend trips. The coupe is a little easyer to load and unload out of the hatch than the zs trunk lid. The ride on city or highways will be more dependant on the tires you have than the suspension differences. However if you take corners the z out of the box is better. What a lot of guys do to coupes is add the z swaybars and up graded shocks c6z or bilstens and keep the base or z51 springs for a softer ride. I have c6z sways on my c5 coupe and stock shocks with base springs and find the ride just fine. The handling on the street is very close to the zs. Any other questions pm me I dont read all the forums much.

Go with the Z. I love mine. All you need for exhaust is longtubes, and TSP makes a set with connection pipes to factory H- pipe for like 580$. And with a intake and gutted cats only on my 01 i ran a 12.5 at 116.

The Z gets you more stock HP for racing (and better suspension parts) as well as a few other goodies. The downside is huge. The top doesn't come out. I couldn't imagine my dream sports car with a fixed roof. The seats aren't as comfortable. There is less headroom than with the transparent top coupe. I looked at both and chose the coupe. I prefer the lines of the coupe over the FRC look. Probably because I am heavily influenced by the '63-'67 Sting Ray cars. Added a 125 hp dry shot for extra fun.

If you are looking for a street car you can also race, you just have to decide what is important to you. There is no question that the Z06 is a terrific drag and road course car. But you can have your cake and eat it too.

Good luck with your search. Whatever model Corvette you buy, I'm sure you will have a blast!

i like the way the coupe looks and the targa option as well, but then you have the performance aspect of the z06 which throws a huge curve ball in there. . .im just going to drive them and see where it goes from there

i just wish i can get a damn closing date on this house im buying to see where im at financially. . .

Let me start off by saying you can't go wrong with either really.

That said I actually prefer the C5 over the Z06(for me, and for your situation). The Z06 is an awesome road course car and if you were interested in that I would hands-down recommend it. For a street driven low 400 whp car, either car will get you there very easily(come on Gen III lol).

It's just that damn targa top, I love it. I've always wanted a targa/t-top car before I got mine. It's all the fun of a convertible without the gayness. Nice sunny day, throw the panel in the back and just go cruise

Put her in the coupe so she can feel the nice breeze
We can drive thru the city no doubt, but don't say my car's topless
Say the ******* is out
Rap quote, will probably get flamed for this but I think of that every time I see a targa C5/C6 or whatever lol.

I think you guys nailed it for me regarding the targa top. I take that puppy out at every possible opportunity. Removal and replacement are a breeze....takes literally seconds. I take out my top a heck of a lot more often than I spray extra HP.
