From what I am being told it barely got the interior wet. The guy that has it now told me there are absolutely no water marks anywhere. He said when they picked it up the only thing it needed was a jump start. It starts and runs like new and he tells me if we find ANYTHING wrong we are free to walk. He told me that he cant imagine the insurance co. even totaled it, but I am guessing the owner insisted to get out of it and I would have done the same. But now it will be mine @ less than 1/2 price.
I am not buying it to resale, I kept my last Vette for 8 years and my wife hated me driving it because it scared her or I would still have it.

For $40K, I would do it, salvage title or not. It's a great car. Best purchase I ever made. Stock GYs are crap, though (noisy, not much forward traction although lateral grip is good, don't last - mine lasted ~6K miles). I'm now running Nitto Invos, and they're much better on the street. For the track, I'll probably get the Nitto NT-05s on some take-off comp gray wheels.
I would love to get one of these on the MSR track.

yeah looks great. I would at least look at it. Check everything very closely. if you can pull the fuse box covers, look for any sign of corrosion. i mean go thru it with a fine tooth comb. Put it on a lift also if you can
. LOVE jetstream blue. If you put the $1000 down and go see it and want to walk away you get the $1k back? if so, might as well go look. Then all your out is the plane tickets or if possibly a C6 Z at a GREAT price![Winky](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_wink.gif)

Yeah it tends to corrode stuff easier. Weather packs(waterproof connectors) are more resistant to fresh water. Salt tends to wreck the rubber inner seal and then to the wires. It also tends to be ALOT harder to clean up
Like one way to get an idea, go to Hawaii where they use NO salt on the roads because they don't get snow. ALOT of cars there are corroded from the salt water if they are close to the ocean
i was there for 27 days last february('08) and started to notice it and asked some locals and they said the cars that were corroded likely went to the beaches alot or lived near the water. Now look at a car that is in a place that doesn't have snow and isn't near saltwater. They may get surface rust if they sit a long time but it'll damn near rub off. But the car never corrodes.
I've seen a couple cars that were flood cars(dads body shop also does repairables) and he's bought cars that he later found had been flooded. He'd fix them but would drive them and see if there was issues. He got them, and ended up parting them out for the body parts and scrapping the rest. He's only had one fresh water flood and it was perfect. No water or corrosion in any connectors and everything worked. It also cleaned up good. He actually had bought it for a friend that wanted it fixed. He doesn't touch flood cars unless somebody already had him order it and wanted him to fix it. The one freshwater flood car he fixed still runs to this day and hasn't given the guy any issues. He's had it for years and has put many miles on it

According to the carfax the car was bought new 8 months ago and there have not been any Hurricanes since then. I am thinking he drove it through a low water crossing.

My car was in the katrina flood, wasnt totalled just register that it was in a county that was catagorized as flooded. They did a damn good job hidin it in the interior underside and everywhere else. Got a good bargain though at the time for a low miles car. Main problem is sensors and electronics wiggin out, but it makes up for the flaws in its performance and how hard it runs. Atleast i wont feel so bad when start moddin heavy on it.

Did not get the car. I left town for a week on a vacation and he sold it. I am really kinda glad. It was going to be a pain in the butt to title. My faithful credit union and bank both would not finance it and I was going to have to pay cash to get it down here and arrange to have the title fixed. Then they would pay me back. It was just going to be a pain and I didnt have time for all of that.

Sometimes things workout for the best. You'll find something that isn't a salvage car. As bad as the economy is, there has to be somone out there that would love to get out from under the payments of an 06, 07, or even 08 c6zo6. Best of luck to ya. Ever think about picking up a c5 and dropping a big cube motor in it ?? A 440 lsx would be pretty wicked, but only if you can't find a nice priced c6z.
Could you imagine how a c5z or a c5 frc with 3.73's would feel with a 440 lsx under the hood making 550 rwhp and similar torque if built to be an under the curve motor vs peak power engine? I think it would be a real sleeper until you hit the gas.

Too bad you weren't looking for a viper. There is a rally racing packaged (whatever that means exactly) 97 viper with full modifications ported heads, cam, headers, etc etc etc. I think she made 600 rwhp or in the neighborhood. Street legal race car for 34,900 at an estate sale. Can't find the article now. Also says the motor was serviced shortly before the owners passing. Plugs, wires, new springs, all fluids etc.
