I would go with the Turbo'd Hawk. In my opinion nothing has the curves and just downright sinister look of a trans am. I can still remember that commercial of the T/A in the mustangs rear view mirror. From that day I told myself I'm going to have one of those!

Vette.

I sold my Twin Turbo Trans Am for my vette and have no regrets. A lot of people here that say a turbo f-body trumps a c5 probably haven't owned one. I personally have owned a turbo f-body and it's not all paradise and power..... a lot of work. Unless your willing to spend the time and a ton of money to perfect the set-up, it will most likely give you issues or be on jackstands a lot. At least that is what I experienced with my 2 different turbo kits. The power is nice but you give up other aspects of the car for that. Car for car, the vette is a far nicer car hands down. Vette vs turbo f-body, I still pick the vette as that is what I personally have done, but some may choose different. Honestly it's what you want out of the car. If you want a car to drive all the time, vette is your choice. If you want a car that you want to bring out on the weekends, can afford to fix broken parts, and don't mind wrenching and working out bugs but want power, turbo f-body is your choice. Hope this helps!

Okay but just on a side note: Are you saying that a cammed c5 won't break parts? Just wondering since that's what this thread is comparing. You are right though, it depends what you want.

Just a cam? No. Unless you put sticky tires on it and break an output shaft (but that's easily prevented with hardened shaft). Forced induction without a built motor to handle it is a ticking time bomb.

Well I am under the impression that he is planning on doing the supporting mods. Also one can't forget that the turbo'd hawk would simply "eat" the cammed c5. So yeah, comparing the two vehicles of course the faster more powerful one is going to break more parts. Also I understand that some aspect of the c5 drivetrain can barely hold the stock power so I would dare to speculate that it too could break! All be it to a lesser extent I agree. Either way I'd take either one

I doubt a cammed C5 would break parts but whenever your modding a vehicle, your pushing everything past what it was built for.

I'm telling you right now, a cammed C5 would be lightyears less headaches and broken parts than a turbo f-body.

Also, the C5s rear end's are known to give up the ghost when pushed or when wheel hop is the case, but I don't see anything different with a 10 bolt in an f-body?

i had a cammed 97 camaro and last august i moved on to a c5... never looked back. the car is simply amazing. I have a set of mamo-fied afr 205s and a 6016 cam on order as we speak. i cant wait to get all the toys on it. mine is only the base suspension(for now) and it is light years ahead of how the camaro handled. to be honest i really didnt care about cornering hard when i bought the car... now i love it. the interior is much sexier as well... and the heads up display is cool as ****.... my vote is for the c5 all the way!

Okay okay okay. How about a turbo'd C5? LOL. I just think if it's just "fast" you are looking for at the track, go for the turbo'd fbody.

Superman09, you were a very influencial person! I remember a week or so ago I sent you a pm about it. I apologize that I don't think I replied back, terrible me, especially after all the time you spent on it. What you hinted on that I was in deep thought about is monitoring everything while you're driving a custom turbo'd car. Granted someone may have the best parts and have it setup correctly, there is always still a risk of something going expensively wrong with FI and that I decided I neither want to have in the back of my mind while I'm out trying to enjoy the car. Thanks again man!

lol. you guys are great! I have chose the C5, and in fact I have found one I'm going to pick up next weekend. I don't want to spoil the details on it yet, but once I get it in my possession I'll let you all know my experiences with it

I would never buy a modded car regardless. But the C5 has my vote. Firehawks are sexy but the truth is, I'd rather take a Vette on the streets than something as rare as a Firehawk.

I bought Superman09 old turbo-zone twin turbo kit, installed it, made 603/600 with it, sold it....and now here I am.
Im in this same situation right now and Im leaning very hard to the C5 FRC and dropping in a LS3 in it.
Still considering a NMB WS6 though.

Thanks for the nice words and I am very glad I could be of help. That is the truth... I did find myself monitoring everything too much as if paranoid and it was no fun, because I didn't want to hurt any of my expensive parts. Great choice on the C5, you will NOT regret it. Enjoy!

You know with all the conversations we've had John, a 427 LS3 FRC is the only way to go.........
