I'm two days away from picking up my C5. I've owned all fbodies since i was 16, starting with an 83 SE Firebird, 89 Formula, 90 GTA, and a 99 TA. I've heard a few guys say when theyswapped to their Vette that they never looked back, but did exactly say why. Other than most just saying the Vette is just a better car. Can any please give me a little more specific input? Thanks in advance!

I've done the switch and will never look back. The C5's interior is much nicer, has tons of more options, and is overall just much more refined in all aspects. The vette will fit 305-315 tires out back with zero issues even if lowered. My C5 is SLAMMED with 305s out back and nothing was needed/done and have zero issues. Car handles like glue on the road and hooks up far better from a slow roll. I love the suspension on the car and clearance being able to slam it without issues. Overall just a better car overall in pretty much every aspect IMO. Not knocking an f-body as I love them and would own another TA all day, but it would be a second car to my vette as it simply more refined in all areas. Hope this helps!

Superman has pretty much hit the nail on the head, the Vette is just a far better car in all aspects. I have owned 6 F-bodies and my Z06 is so much more car than any of them. I too would own another Ram Air but it would serve as my DD.

You will be glad you stepped up from an fbody to a vette. I got both and hands down the vette is far better in every catagory than my camaro. Only bad thing about the vette is buying the parts that are just for them as you get that vette tax, but other than that it's all good.

I have to agree on parts, modding a vette is a lot pricier than modding a camaro or TA which is annoying.

When I test drove my coupe (with Z51 suspension) I said, wow, this beats my Z28 all day. The IRS is great vs the solid axle (no, I don't drag race). And the weight difference was the other factor. I still miss my Z28 though.

I went from a '99 Trans Am to a 2003 Z06. It was a major difference. Trans Am was a muscle car, but the Vette was an all around Sports Car. After driving the Vette for a couple of months, I got back in my former Trans Am, and it felt heavy, mushy (even with a ton of suspension and chassis upgrades) and just plain poorly put together in comparison.
Of course, my current 2008 Z06 puts even my former 2003 Z06 to shame in every respect. Totally different league. I never really understood the "Super Car" feeling until spending some spirited time behind the wheel of this thing. Wow.
I'm a Vette head for life, now. You won't regret it.

As much as I like my Z06, and there is no question it is a better car, I REALLY liked my TA. It just had that "Looking for some *** to kick" look. But, I do the road racing thing, and for a while, I had both, and there was no comparison between the two. Mind if I ***** it out one more time:

I had an '89 Turbo TA and absolutely loved that car...still miss it to this day. Put WAY to much money into mods on that car. Straight line performance was unparalleled...it threw down in the 1/4 mile; but no matter what I did it still didn't handle like a "world class" sports car. Owned that car for several years, then had a momentary lapse of concentration and sold it to pick up a BMW M3...mainly due to the handling characteristics. After I paid off the M3, I picked up my 03 Z06. It was closest balance of that straight line performance which I sorely missed from my Turbo TA, and the superb handling I was used to getting in my M3. When I get bored of the C5Z, I'll get a C6Z...unless I can hold out long enough for the resale values to make sense on a used C6 ZR1! World class handling and power pretty much sums it up.
