Default degree cam in car (C5)?

When you disconnect the steering rack in a C5 and move it over to the passenger side is it completely out of the way to allow degreeing the cam? I was just reading a H/C install guide and it shows disconnecting everything from the rack and moving it over to the side but the one end is still up in front of the pulley. Just wondering if that will get in my way or not.
Thanks!

Nevermind...found my own answer (got the steering rack completely out so it's not in the way at all anymore)

He said he didn't mind me posting it but I'll just give out what the cam doctor shows that it really is (duration came out a little more than ordered):

There is no need really to degree a cam on LSx based motors, unless you do not trust the cam card. Just install it dot to dot and you should be good to go.

I've installed or helped others install at least 30 cams in lsX motors, have yet to degree one...But if it makes you feel more comfortable to do it, good for you!

I think u should always degree a cam just to make sure. Of coarse I always like to advance cam to get more at drag strip. Well at least when u can hook it.

This is the debate me and my machinist got into. I did not want him to use a double roller but he insisted he had to in order to degree the cam.

That's BS. I used an adjustable single roller to degree in my cam. I didn't want to mess with swapping out the crank gear so I stayed with a single.
