How this Z hooks!
Its 2nd gear is roughly as fast in mph as my 02Z in 3rd, but, the ZR1s torque maximum placement in 2nd is roughly the same as my 02Z in 2nd. My car with similar power on high boost breaks loose in 3rd because its torque maximizes, similar to its 2nd, in 3rd about 5mph after it is shifted from its rev'd out 2nd. In comparison to the ZR1's maximum torque in 2nd is way back in its first gear range. Forget using high boost in 1st and 2nd in my car as it is too touchy for me. I think my cars gears are great for a turbo, and a stock or simple mod. powered car with its short first gear like a turbo Porsche. I think I understand the torque occurring shortly after the shifts in my car now as it makes for more transparent and quicker shifts. The long fourth gear works out well for a turbo too. I don't think (maybe a centrifugal supercharger) I would want these gears in any other high power setup, and in the ZR1 with its constant, linear, and abundant, torque, no way. My gears are close to 4.10s in 1st-3rd with nothing in 4th. My ideal higher power gearing setup would have the std trans with a 3.70 rr which would give me a top'd 4th around 130 instead of ~142, which is ~100 to ~130 instead of ~96 to ~142 or so. Similarly to the ZR-1 though the 6th gear change would yield a ~2MPG highway penalty for my ideal gear setup. Also, the torque would be closer to max at shift points so that upward spike wouldn't be there, and 1st would still be low at ~50 (2nd ~78 instead of ~66).
Anyway, now I hold back my max. boost until 5mph after max in 3rd above 65deg. (torque flatter down instead of cresting up). Works like a charm!!!! On colder days I just use 4th right away as the torque easily does the same job.
Thanks,ZR-1!

by the title of the thread i was expecting a Z launching with one wheel off the ground or something, then i started reading and was reminded of my playstation days playing with the gear ratios on gran turismo lol

This act has played out on most of the Corvette Forums. The guy is either from another country or just stupid as a rock. What he's saying is he modified his supercharged Z06 to delay boost so he maintains traction all the time like the ZR1. He'll make more posts that actually sound somewhat intelligent after you bash him around a bit... Must be a game he likes to play.

very little 'concepts' can be derived from the original post. my 6 yr old nephew could produce a better statement than that.
which is why i believe all the forums you post on, and the typical post on every one, no wonder nobody responds.
