Thumbs up WHich gears and clutch?

I have a 02 ZO6 with a head and cam package. My horsepower is 440 and torque is 400. The car is mostly a streetcar although I go to the strip about 4 times per year. For the street I want to keep the factory wheels and tires. What is the best gear for the rear? I was thinking 4:10 as that is what I had in my TA with similar mods (head/cam/6speed) and I loved them. Just became concerned as some on the sites say that will be too much gear for the car. Does anyone have a similar set up and what gears do they like. Also wonder if I need a new clutch. The car currently has 8,000 miles on it and if a change would be needed any time soon I would like to do it while changing the rear gear. I am planning on buying some slicks for the 4 times per year that I go to the track and I am not sure if the stock clutch will hold. Thanks for the help. Buzz

everyone says get a SPEC3 clutch, they handle alot of power!!! as far as gears, the Z06 tranny ratio is different from the standard C5 6spd. The different ratio pretty much equals out to being a 3.90 rearend ratio for 1st,2nd, and 3rd gear that is why the Z06 or quicker off the line, so really to make a big difference 4:10 would be the way to go. you should ask this over on corvetteforum alot more quys can help you out on the Z06 section

JRod likes the 4.10's. Depends on how fast and how long the car is gonna be run.

For street times and 1/4 mile races go fo the 4.10's. But for long highway racing and anything over 160 do the 3.73's or 3.90's.

aluminum flywheel is not recomended for serious strip use... if your going auto xing most of the time i would aluminum. you want a heavier flywheel for more inertia so the car will launch and not bog off the line. as to gears it is up to you on what your going to do with the car most of the time. NA i would go with the 3.90's but if your running spray i would stay with the 42's or 73's max.. of cours this is my opinion and not the only way to go.
