I have brought this question up several times on the boards and it all comes down to what you want out of the car. If you want the better more consistent track car stay with the F-bod (vettes have wheel hop issues at the track). If you want the better daily driver / auto X / cruising car no doubt go with the C5.

Your insurance should actually go down. Corvettes have a lower insurance rate than F-bodies. My insurance went down 50% when I made the switch from a Trans Am to a C5 Z06.

Remember, the majority of Vette owners are above 45 year old. So their responsibility and lack of accidents and tickets helps us younger guys that move on to Corvettes from F-Bodies. F-Bodies are primarily driven by younger guys below 24 years old. The less responsible 16-20 year old kids that get lots of tickets and get in accidents a lot keep insurance premiums on a cheaper car high.

I made the switch and I'll never look back. I still appreciate a nice F-Body, but I'll never own another ever again after owning a C5.

I would keep the Trans am. The trans am will never be made again. More of a rare car. It is rare to see a Trans am on the streets now days. Mine is in the garage in hibernation for now. Its awaiting a big brother C6 Z06 to park right next to it.

I see 'em as much (if not more) than Corvettes. Here in Los Angeles it seems everyone and their mother's have a Trans Am.

Not here or anywhere that I have seen are there more WS6 or trans ams. Although c5 or c6 and is better made. I am in the market for a c6 z06 now, but I am thinking long term. I am definitely keeping the WS6. The WS6 for being an 8 year old car still gets alot attention.

NO! I would stick with the T/A they look sooo much better in my opinion and if that pic in your sig is your current 1 that thing looks like a beauty i always though the blue or black looked great on ws6's. i say stick with the ws6 c5's are much more common and you cant tell the diffrence between a base or z06you can but not if its debaged and if its dark. i say stick with your trans am.

i was thinking the samething, selling my 00 nbm ws6 for a c5 zo6, but now i'm going to keep it and save for a c6 z06. that way i'm not playing catch up, i mean i love the c5 zo6, but if i traded my car for that then i would want to trade the c5 for a c6, so i might aswell save for the big dog.

I started out with a ws6, then traded it for a C5Z06-great damn car, and now I will be getting rid of my C5Z for a C6Z. Tho that won't happen for a few years yet.

I sold my Z28 for a C5 and loved both of them. The C5 is a much nicer car and handles better but the Z28 was pretty cool. I miss the Z but still love the C. Question is why do you want to change. If for speed in a straight line either will do. Cheaper to mod the T/A than the vette. I should have kept my Z28 & made a track car out of it.

WOW i agree with ALL that was said....except for the keep the T/A remarks. Its been said dozens of times. Vettes and especially ZO6, are just better in every way shape and form. I went from my 99 CamaroSS to my 01 ZO6 and...like said..i still smile when i see and hear a great lookin F-body, but ill never go back. and like scramblerman...i too will be in the market for a C6ZO6 in a few years

One more thing...i couldnt help but notice you said C5. IF you mean JUST THE C5 i wouldnt make that trade..but it depends on your plans for the car. I said not to keep your T/A in hopes you meant a C5Z...not a C5

IMO if I had an LS1 SS or z28 I would get rid of it as well. Although both a camaro and trans am have the same motor the exterior and interior are different. Like I said before a C5 is leaps and bounds ahead of a WS6 performance wise but a Trans am is just so damn mean looking coming down the road and it is becoming a rare item around town.
