What else will it take.....
To make my C5 coupe as fast as a C5Z? I know a stall will help and off course long tubes. I currently have a set of 243s from an 07 vette, and a ls6 intake with cam from a 2004 C5Z. I currently have the 3.15 rear, would a 3.42 be suffice with a 2800 to 3200 stall? I also picked up a set of low mile shocks from a C5Z.

Long tubes, the stall, the 3.42's, the 243 heads and a bigger cam should do it (the LS6 cam is very, very mild). I would seriously look at having the 243's ported and putting in a decent cam. The LS6 cam really isn't worth the effort. Even a smaller aftermarket cam with massaged 243's should put you over 400 to the tire. Heck a mid sized cam and stock 243's would probably be close to 400rwhp.

I agree. For the CAI get the vararam vr-b2. They perform the best on the Corvette from what I hear and have researched. Just ordered mine. Cant wait to get it installed. Also if you really wanna make some power with that head and cam setup add a fast 92/92. Pretty expensive though and not sure if your budget but if your on a budget just get the ls6 they still perform great to! goodluck

Wait, are you asking about making it as fast in the 1/4 or through the twisties?
That's two totally different things. To be honest, a C5 Coupe A4 can be a lot faster than a C5Z in the 1/4 really easily. You just need to make up for gearing, weight and 70HP.
So, my suggestion would be to port your stock 241s or get a set of ported LS heads, get a 224R or 228R cam, get an LS6 intake, and change your gears to 3.73s. CAI and tune and you'll be going far faster down the 1/4 than a stock 2002+ Z06.
You'll make about 380-390RWHP through the automatic. The 3.73s will wake the car up BIG time and put you on par with the weight/gearing of the Z, and you'll probably run into the 11s.
You can do that all cheap if you do the work yourself. Best of all, that will all smog no problem, and you probably won't lose as much MPG as you would putting a stall in.
Just my 2 cents.
EDIT: Just read that you already have the intake and the heads... You're almost done. Just need the cam, CAI and gears.

what everybody here has said will get what you want and more. If you are going to do a cam swap, you might as well put a bigger cam in it. Something in the mid to upper 220 duration range.

Get a 3600/3.73 combo and forget about the LS6 cam. Hell if you're looking at a 220 might as well forget about the cam too(imo ofc). A stalled/geared/bolt on C5 will outrun a C5Z especially when you consider the fact that 99% of manual car drivers can't drive for ****.

Yeah, but once you do gears and stall, you pretty much kill drivability. Sure, many people drive stalled geared cars all the time as daily drivers, but you're losing a crap load of economy and high stalls just heat up faster. Honestly, what I suggested is the best of both worlds. Making 400RWHP with 3.73's in an A4 (stock stall) will definitely out run a Z06 in 1/4 mile and it will still be VERY daily drivable (maybe even better).

I ran a 221/221 575 575 112 in my 98, very nice little cam.

I agree. The 224R cam is .581 lift. You'll pretty much need new springs either way, but you're only talking $100 for the most part. Have streetkills.net or if you're in the SoCal area, have west coast cylinder heads do your porting. Remember, LSx heads are velocity heads, not CFM heads. So people who boast porting for big CFM numbers are just going to screw up your heads.
