Z06 performance in a grand sport?
What would it take to get a new auto grand sport up to the performance level (straightline) of a C6 Z06? Say something in the very low 11's or even high 10's for the 1/4 mile.
I would like to keep the ride quality/driveabilty as close to stock as possible.
TIA

Depends on whether you want to stay N/A and how much you want to spend. Low 11s high 10s? Easiest way there would probably be one of the many bolt-on blower kits out there, the Edelbrock E-Force being the first to come to mind purely because of its completeness and R&D. If you want to stay N/A, a cam/valvetrain/bolt-on car will do it. I know that guys run low 12s stock with the auto, so the power bump should give you what you want. If not, you would only be tires away for sure (NT05s, not talking drag radials or slicks here). Sounds like a noble goal.

NA or FI doesn't really matter.
My first thought was maybe a supercharger or mild turbo kit to get me where I would like to be, but can the stock engine take it? even a mild set-up, say only another 100hp or so.
Would a mild Head & cam job (something that still idles smoothly) get me to the high 10's, low 11's??
I guess another question is, how much can the stock auto tranny take?

do you have an auto or manual? your goal can be reached with just bolt ons if your willing to do a stall (if you have the auto) but some say they dont like the way the car feels with the stall. i have an A6 auto with some gears in the back and the car feels great to me but maybe im just use to it now, some guys say it feels fine with the stock gears.
ive never had a supercharged car but i would think that would be one of the best ways to keep the car stock feeling and give you a great boost in power (more than the Z06 easily).
if you do have the A6 trans then you need to make sure your tune is perfect, and if it is then the trans will hold quite a bit of power.
just to give you an idea of what a bolt on vette can do i have an 06 LS2 A6 with almost full bolt ons and i run a best of 11.12 @ 123.2 mph and there are a couple of bolt on cars in the 10's.
good luck

Either an A&A Vortech kit or a Procharger kit would get the job done quite nicely.

yes you will need the stall to get that low, i have the yank 3600 with 3.42 gears. LS1LT1 is one of those guys that hit the 10s in a bolt on C6 and i do believe he has the yank 3200 stall with stock 2.56 gears. also i forgot to mention that the bolt on cars that have hit the 10s are the lower powered LS2 so you should have an advantage with the LS3.
