The highway mileage is a pleasant surprise, but nobody buys a vette for MPG. If your commute involves a good mix of highway, your weekly gas bill may be only $5 - 10 higher with the vette than a small sedan. Sitting at a stoplight, it take more gas to keep that 6.2l spinning at 650 rpm than some 2.0l 4 banger at 700 rpm and that kills city mileage.

Well, I am officially pissed. I talked with Bryan at McCluskey Chevrolet for the past week, faxed over ALL my needed info and made an appointment on Wednesday to sign papers and drive off on Friday. I told him that I don't get off work till 5pm and they close at 6 and its a 5 hour drive there, so I was going to have to take a day off work. I called him wed, thurs, and Friday on the drive up there to make sure everything was a go and he said that my Corvette was being cleaned and gas tank filled and waiting for me...

Well I get there and see my black '08 Corvette in the showroom, along with 5 ZR1's outside on the lot dirty as hell and over a dozen brand new Corvettes on the regular lot, very nice place I find a sales manager, not Bryan, and tell him I'd like to pick up my car and pointed at the '08 in the showroom. He begins to tell me it was sold yesterday So I go on a man-hunt to find Bryan and when I do he begins to tell me sorry about the '08 but we have a bunch of brand new Corvettes I can show you! I about blew my top.

I took a day off work, got a babysitter for 2 days on a Friday-Saturday (because I wasn't about to drive for 11 hours straight), and used 2 tanks of gas at 40 apiece to pick this car up and this is all he has to say! If this isn't the 'ol Bait and Switch for me to buy a new one I don't know what is. I made a pretty big scene there and Bryan's supervisor came into the picture and promised me they would find and have an '08 corvette by Monday, I politely told him to shove it up his *** and I'm not doing this all over again just to let them get a car sold. I found a motel in Cincinnati that night and drove home the next day.

I agree! That was just so wrong what they did to him. GM should discontinue supplying to dealers that operate like this.

Rameon01, keep on looking and don't let one dealer ruin your desire for a great car. Sorry this happened! Might want to call GM customer relations and report it whether it does any good or not.

Wow! Sorry to hear this happen to you. I would of gone ballistic!!!!!! This is one of the reasons I will never, ever buy a damn thing from a dealer. They are always full of run arounds! If it is not one thing it is something else with those clowns. Buy from a private owner and save a ton of money.

Wow! That's fucked up! Call GM customer service and let them know. They don't like when their dealerships do this (ESPECIALLY with Corvettes). My dad did the same thing with a dealership out here.

I hope you find your Corvette soon, though. I think if I were in your shoes, I would have keyed the first ZR1 I saw.

I didn't really need to, it has been raining off and on for the past couple weeks and you could tell that they have been outside for awhile. And seeing a ZR1 for the first time.... well that was pretty cool.

Wow, I drove 5 hours to pick up mine a few years back and would've went ballistic if I arrived and got the same story. Then again had I told them that I was coming to pick up a car and got this story I wouldn't have left without it.

Well I'm checking out another one tomorrow, only 45 mins away this time

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...ingId=45407908

It's fully loaded and just arrived yesterday! HUD and everything, just a bit high on the miles. I'm going to try to get them to lower to 32K because of that.

Better luck on this one! High mileage but if it has had regular maintenance it should be fine. Ask if the owner left a service record.

Appears to have Z51, NPP and navigation. Tires look like they might need to be replaced soon.

With 47K miles depending on how it's been driven a new clutch might be in the future. If it's mostly highway miles then the clutch should be good to go. If not that's a pretty labor intensive job. If anything like changing a converter in an automatic then the book calls for 9 hours. Some on the Corvette forum say they can do it in 5.

Might want to run a Carfax and see if any thing shows up.

47K miles ain't crap if it all stock, the owner was probably a 40 year old man that just wanted a muscle car and drove it back and forth from work (highway miles). That color is my favorite, I would deff pick this up if everything looks good. Good luck with this one.

Well I finally found out the truth about what happened in Cincinnati. I called their loan officer and asked her what day my credit was pulled and application turned in. It was SUPPOSED to be a week prior to me leaving (when he gave me the monthly payments I posted here on the 16th) but it wasn't until the day I left for Cinci that they finally did and seen I was denied then made up a bullshit excuse why they can't sell me that car. Oh, and I was denied on the orange one too I thought since I make decent money, almost 75K/year, credit didn't really matter... The dealer in Ky did say that I could have any C5 on his lot though no problem.

They have some decent vehicles on his lot.

I would get the Firehawk, 03-04 Cobras' are a pain in the *** to work on (not a lot of room in the engine bay) and I was just not that impressed with them as for overall performance. And the fact its a vert makes it even worse when it comes to weight. My vote is the hawk. But that price is very high does it have super low miles like 3-5k?

The hawk has 18k miles, still pretty low. What do you think is a reasonable offer? 16k?

http://www.44automart.com/newandused...UPERPRICE.aspx

#EDIT Well I just got off the phone with the sales manager that accepted the Firehawk as a trade-in and he gave me the rundown. He had all the good things to say that it was always garage kept, absolutely no mods, perfect inside and out, ect... He wouldn't budge a penny under 17K though.

I wouldn't offer more than $12K for any F-body. I'm sorry, but although that's a ******* nice car, it's still an F-body. $17K would get you a really nice low miles 6-speed Corvette.

My 2lt with 15k was $32k. This looks like a pretty solid deal. More options more miles. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my atomic orange vette.

edit:

Just saw you were having credit issues. Maybe with more money down you can work something out?
