Default FAST LSXrt on a C5?

I was wondering if anyone out there has installed the FAST 102 LSXrt intake in a car, especially a C5? This intake is made for trucks and race cars that dont have a problem with hood clearance. I know a car would need a cowl hood and a modded CAI but Im wondering if its been done. This intake has shorter and straighter runners yielding more power than the regular LSXr 102 intake. Would be a nice project and itll look crazy IMO.

Well I tried but theres isnt a hood that would fit the truck intake. FAST said the LSXrt is 4in taller than the regular FAST 102. So even the 3in cowl, like the one made by VIS, wouldnt fit it and it tapers down too early. You would need a 3-4in cowl that would maintain that height for at least 20in starting from the wiper cowl. So, I gave in, I ordered the reg LSXr 102 and a NW 102mm tb. We'll see how it goes...and how they fit!

Yeah I glanced at it and pretty quickly ruled it out. You'd need to cut the cowl up to get it to fit too, even the 102's are having some clearance issues at the cowl on C5's.

I was prepared to do a little cutting in the cowl but it would be pointless without a proper cowl hood. Too bad because that truck intake really makes serious power and is a superior design. Hopefully my 102 will fit without issues. Seems that fitment is hit n miss with the 102 in C5s, some guys get lucky, others even shim the suspension cradle..

Sounds cool but expensive and labor intensive. How much power does a rt make over the lsx?

No one has really done it or tried it but on a heads/cam 5.3 truck it made over 30hp more than stock throughout the power band. The lsx is good for 20+ plus but the rt was close to 40. I even called FAST and they themselves, and I quote, "if you can get it to fit I'd go with the truck intake hands down". The rt has straight long runners that make it easier for air to flow and don't sacrifice low end power. The lsx runners has a pretty mean curve the air has to travel through first.

Corvette Chevy Trader had a good article on a lsxrt install on a h/c 5.3L truck last month showing big gains with a small/mild cam.

I am intrigued with the rt. Its hard to find good results. I would like to see some results on a large stroker with a good set of heads such as the new Afr 245s or TF 235s or maybe a stock cube motor with a large cam. I am curious how well it can feed a nice motor in the upper rpms.

I wish! I looked at a lot of ITB setups. That would be the max and they look and sound awesome. They start at $3000 and go to almost $10000!!!! That Harrop is like $3200.

Lol Thanks. I actually responded to that CL listing you sent me but I got no response. I said for that price I could afford to figure what hood to get later. I tried for 3 days with no answer, oh well.
