Hey guys just a quick question... Im in the process of getting a C5 ( no its not the ZO6 lol) I was wondering if the LS1 in them came with the 243 heads or if it still came with the regular run of the mill 241 heads. Last question is tranny wise. Ive always ran a T56 but this will be my first automatic. I know one of the best mods is a stall. Im reading on here that everyone really likes around a 3800 to a 4000. Im planning on doing the TSP 228R among with other things. Since you guys have vettes what do you think?
Thanks

Base C5 doesn't come with 243 heads. I've never owned an auto vette, but if I did a stall and gears would probably be one of my first mods. You need to think of your long term goals before you pick those out though.

Plan is right around 400rwhp rwtq. I'm going to use the TSP 228R and stock heads. Unless I can find a set of 243's for cheap. Obviously bolt ons. I may go a little bigger on the cam say around a 230 or 232 but that's it.

Only z06's in vettes came with 243 heads. There is nothing wrong with a auto if thats what you want. Some autos did not get the "performance" rear ends and have 273 gears. They are known to be pretty slow. So do the research before you buy or plan on gears if doesnt have the 315 rear end.

That being said if you have 273's the first mods I would do is a stall and 342's. Thats just my opion and I am by no means authority on modding cars lol.

just keep looking around, you'll be surprised what you find & at a good price. i just picked up a LS6 long block for a great price with low mileage. i also seen a set of LS6 heads over in the parts section for $550. but since you are new like me, you can't post a reply to him over there cause they might think you are a spammer or a scammer.

If you get the right stall converter you won't benefit much from gears if any assuming you already have a 3.15. For maximum acceleration get a stall that is approximately 500 rpm below peak torque. However, generally not terribly streetable at that rpm. If you do much city start and stop drivng my Yank 3200 is a good choice.
