Default SLP long tube headers?

First thanks for anwering my earlier questions!

So far got the ported and polished throttle body, K&N FIPK intake, Z06 exhaust, 160 thermostate, bypased the TB coolant, and computer tune for my 03. I had just ordered some SLP's with the new weld on pipe y section(that is supposed to allow access to the bellhousing) and was wondering if any of you have any experience with SLP products. I got the ceramic coated ones, and was wondering about how much power gain the headers can help with my already existing setup? Also about how much power gain do you think that I can get from all of my bolt ons so far?

It will take about two months to get the 3.42 gears and converter, so I know it will be a while till I get the real performance gain for my setup. Also one last thing, do you guys think that my tranny should hold up ok with just these mods and the gear and stall? If not, what should I do to set it up? It is already programmed to shift faster and firmer, and I know this will help with longevity, but don't want to push things to far and start breaking things!

Thank you again for any comments!

SLP Headers Ehh? They are the worst to make power. The best ET I could run is a stinkin' slow **** 11.70 @ 116.8 with a stock motor and bolt ons . I have no idea how much HP you can achieve with them. Actually it would be hard to estimate the HP you already have with present mods. It looks like you are on the same path that I have gone down with mods, so if you keep going I'm sure your car will perform as mine does at the track. But if you are looking for BIG dyno #s then you will have to go with a H/C setup.

As far as Trans durability, I have 40,000 miles with the trans still working 100%. Check sig for mods. Good luck

Mike

Save yourself the pita and get the Kooks or the LGM. I have heard nothing but complaints about the SLP's.

Dude, no one replied for a while so I already got them coming in the mail. Well, one bad and one good review. I guess at this point time will tell!

The 2 negative posts to the SLPs are from people that heard from this guy or that guy or somebodies mother, that they don't make power. I on the other hand, have 1st hand experience and the SLPsDO make power. Only negative is the install, once installed you will be happy. Follow my mods and I guarantee you will be in the 11s in decent weather.

Stay with the stock tuning. Too many guys jump the gun and get some generic tune and they go slower. I've seen other guys have their bolton car tuned on a Dyno by one of the top shops in my area and also slow up. The GM engineers have a very good stock tune that will take you up through all the boltons you throw at it. Now if you upgrade to H/C, a tune on the dyno will be necessary to get maximum power. As I said before Good Luck, and listen to someone that has REAL experience with the headers.

I know its a late post but I do have the SLP headers and they are great for the car. Don't worry about what others are saying about them like Mikie C said.I have had them for over a year now and they are a great bolt-on for the price. Like Mikie C said though the install is a B%^&*!!! I had to remove the sway bars and drop the engine a bit to get them on. That is because of their unique flow design. Most of the other headers are pretty straight and a clean install. The power that they make is much more than the TPIS headers which quite a few other owners have on their car.
