Finally finished my new ride
Picked up a White 2001 Z06 a couple months back to build into a consistant and competitive bracket/11.50 car with excellent street manners.
First thing I did was convert to an auto. Here's the rundown of the build
01 Z06
Stock bottom end
Chevy Performance Parts Hot cam
Mostly stock LS6 heads - just a valve job and some milling
Melling oil pump
C5R timing chain
Underdrive pulley
Yank 4000 converter
ACE built 4L60E
3.42 differential with upgraded internals
Stock suspension in the back - Lakewood 90/10 shocks up front.
I got it all together a couple weeks ago and just got it tuned on Thursday. Then Thursday night took it to Atco for some shakedown passes. I've never driven a stalled auto before.
Vid of the first pass ever.

I was really happy with that pass. The car felt great. I spent the rest of the night trying to dial for 11.50 and working on figuring out how to stage and launch to cut a light.
Last pass of the night I ran it out to an 11.05@121
The car far exceded my expectations
Yesterday, I went to Englishtown to compete in the Corvette Challenge, the Corvette Pro 11.50, and the GM-EFI brackets.
I'm glad I entered 3 classes, because I needed the seat time to figure things out.
By the time elims started, I was begining to get comfortable.
I went red in my first round of the CC, but won the first round of the GM-EFI. At that point, my day was a success. Then I won the first round of the 11.50, against one of the top drivers in the class - damn, that felt good.
Round 2 of the 11.50, the ladder puts me against Ellis Grey, the points leader and a pretty accomplished racer. I cut a better light, and got him by a fender.

Round 3 - the finals in the 11.50 I run my good buddy Gary in his C6Z. I won in a double break out.
In the GM-EFI brackets I made it to the semi finals.
So, to say I'm happy with this car is a tremendous understatement. It is everything my blue car wasn't. I can drive this car anywhere in comfort and rip off a low 11 second pass. The only thing my car needs is Sirius satellite radio.

Thanks guys
The GM hot cam is 219/228 .525/.525 112LSA It is mild, and there is a tiny bit of lope to it. It's perfect for my build because I didn't want to build something to go all out fast, just to run 11.50 in the heat of summer. Plus, it pays contingency in NMCA
the car weighs 3280 with me in it and 3/4 tank of gas.

NICE!! What are your 60 fts??
Are you leaving the line at a dead idle? what rpm does it flash to before it really hits the tires? I've got a Vigilante 4000 w/ a 3.90 gear & i'm just curious to see how it compares.
Thanks!

I've been launching at 2100 rpm. my 60' times are 1.51-1.54 so far, with M/T 255/50/16 drag radials at 18 PSI. But, I've only got 20 passes on it, so I'm sure with more seat time, I'll get more consistent and perhaps better 60' too.
When I accelerate from a stop, it goes to about 2000 before the car starts to move, but once moving, I can cruise through my neighborhood at 1500 rpm and 20 mph. If I'm accelerating from a light to get up to 40-50mph, it'll go straight to 3500rpm (or higher if I want to) while getting up to speed.

Mechanically, not hard at all. The thing that had me concernered was the wiring. As it turns out, that is really easy too. RPM transmissions sells an adapter harness. Re-pinning the PCM is really straight forward too. You will need a service manual.
It also helps to have Tommy Michalkowski's phone number. The guy's mind is full of corvette info.
I had Doug at ECS flash my computer with a modified autyo tune, so I could start it and drive it. I drove about 250 miles prior to bringing it up to ECS for the full street tune.
One thing that really helped, was I made a swap with a guy that had an auto and wanted to go with a manual. It worked out perfect.
I did this swap on jack stands in my garage.
