C5 rear gear question

Default C5 rear gear question

I have 3.42's that came off a M6 corvette and my buddy wants to buy them for his A4 C5 vette, will they fit?? I did research and i wasnt sure if they would fit or not. Dont want him to tear apart his rear end and the gears wont fit. Anyone have any imput on this??

The gears should be the same, the diff case is the same..unless its a z06 case has more ribs.

The gears themselves or the whole differential? If it's the whole diff, it's a bolt on. Just unbolt the diff, swap the seal plate over and bolt it back on.

If just the gears themselves, they will fit as long as it's a 3 series carrier (3.15). A 2 series carrier (2.73) will not fit right without a spacer. Something about the reluctor ring. Swapping the gears in the diff is a pretty involved job to set up right.

The tune in the A4 car needs to be reprogrammed to shift correctly with the new gears.
