Default Texas Invitational: Automotive Airfield Exhibition & LS1tech.com

Thank you LS1tech.com for being a media partner for the Texas Invitational

General: The next TI will be held on the weekend of October 13th and 14th, 2012 in Caddo Mills, Texas. Rainout date will be the first clear weekend thereafter. Saturday October 13th will be dedicated to an Open Session from 11am to 3pm and some Grudge Match heats (Grudge Matches will be setup online like last time). Sunday October 14th gates open at 7am, driver's meeting at 7:20am, open session, Grudge Match heats and the Corvette Shootout follow. Then we will break for lunch and continue with the 6 Speed Challenge, and KOTS. If there is remaining time you guys can run Grudge Matches or enjoy an open session. Classes (besides Grudge Matches) will be run similar to an NHRA Pro Ladder with a driver being eliminated until we arrive a final pairing.

What's New: (1) Registration will all be done online with you completing and returning the TI forms by August 27th, 2012 (or sooner if all slots are filled). The registration packet contains your class selection form, tech form, waivers, and so on. This will expedite both registration and physically getting you through gates quicker. Drivers will be able to register multiple guests. If there is room after drivers register guests we will open up limited guest spots through partner websites. (2) There will be a $40 charge per guest. (3) Class structure to level the playing field. Classes will be a Corvette Shootout, 6 Speed Challenge, and our spotlight class KOTS.

Driver Registration: Download, complete, and return the following registration packet to info@TexasSpeedSyndicate.com: REGISTRATION PACKET. Your tech form is included in the packet. You can go above and beyond tech requirements voluntarily. Its up to you to wear a fire suit, install a roll cage, fire extinguisher, engine diaper, HANS device, belly pans, drive shaft loops, and so on. These are extra steps you can take to make your experience safer. Safety is your hands alone so take it seriously. Once you return your registration packet selected drivers will receive an invitation and invoice of $245 per driver. This is $50 more then last year and the extra cost will get you an event t shirt, vinyl numbers for your car, and wrist band for entry.

Airfield Crew, Cleanup, and Fire. Similar to last time at the airfield we will have a dedicated fire crew, EMS, clean up crew with the Zamboni, porta potties, and hand wash stations. If you hear a pop, bang, see a loss in oil pressure, or anything else not normal from your car while driving on the airfield please stop your vehicle in your lane as soon as possible. Failure to stop your vehicle in your lane when spewing oil will only cause clean up delays. Never change lanes if you are spilling any fluid because that will require a monumental clean up effort and likely a lane or track closure. On the other hand if your vehicle catches on fire pull over onto the grass. The fire crew can then take care of your vehicle and attend to any grass fire.

Driving Procedure: Vehicles will be called to line up at the grid. The grid master will release you down the side of the airfield in a single file line to the taxi lane where you pair up. From there vehicles are signaled to line up and burn out. Keep your eye on the traffic light. It will be red at this point. If you are ready to go give the starter a thumbs up. The light will change to yellow and at that point begin pacing to 60mph (or whatever speed you have mutually agreed on). Don't wait for the person next to you. Get up to 60mph and hold. We will have a green flag zone set up. If you are not side by side in the green flag zone you will recieve a red light, at which point you need to stop and turn around. After one red light you will receive a lecture from the starter. If you are side by side in the hot box you will receive a green light and the race is on. Accelerate thereafter to the finish line flags. After the checkered flags begin slow down. If equipped with a chute, the smarter guys will drive through chute deployment so weight transfer is smooth. Always yield to the vehicle on your RIGHT before turning around. DO NOT abort your pass if there is a bike chase cam sharing a lane. Do not drive past the yellow tarp X at the end of the field. When in the taxi lane returning back up maintain a minimum speed of 80mph. Unless directed otherwise, return to the pit area after your run. Take a look at the diagrams below for a visual description.

Great to see this over here. This event is a must attend! I was just a specator at the spring event and had a blast and I'm even more pumped to participate in Oct.
