Default C5 Z06 Dyno - video and #s inside!

Well, I was finally able to get on the rollers to see what gains a custom cam, full exhaust and e85 can do. Prior to this I only had a Vararam and axle back on it and put down average numbers (360whp/355wtq). I dyno'd 2 days ago at the same place and was very happy with my results:

422whp/405wtq

Mods are as follows:
- Custom grind cam - 238/240 - .600" / .600" - 112 LSA + 2
- LG Super Pro longtubes and X-pipe
- GHL Bullets
- Vararam
- e85 with 42lb. green tops

I haven't been emailed the dyno graph quite yet but I'll do an overlay from my stock run to see where the big gains are as I know my midrange really picked up.

I took this video from my phone, she certainly doesn't lack in the noise department:

Heh, I know him. He's had his car many more years and was the reason I bought a silver Z, matter of fact. Wish I had his mod-red interior among a few other things, but I'll get there someday!

Gotta love 'em! Even if they're a PITA to keep clean they're so worth it.

Thanks! Although E85 is commonly used in FI applications there's still many benefits for N/A. My car runs a good 20* cooler now compared to 92, so if your car is track-oriented this is a MASSIVE benefit. Aside from that, given the higher octane rating, engine longevity is increased, extending the life of your motor (all other things being equal). The smell is also much better compared to the rich boat motor smell I had before (catless). Sure, the mpg suffers but I don't drive long distances and the cost is cheaper so it nearly evens out.

I didnt know him when I bought my car but love the wheels and the pictures. I live in the dallas and so does he. Seems like a very nice guy the couple times I have talked to him. I personally am not fan of mod red interior but that is just my opinion.

I understand how corn works.

That cam is not what I would choose to road race with.

Yeah it's on the aggressive side, and my car will rarely see the track (need tires and a clutch first). If you understand how it works, why'd you ask if I went e85?

Well, I FINALLY got my damn dyno graph. Here she is:

Of course I'm happy with the peak #'s compared to my stock dyno (360whp/355wtq), but I was more concerned with WHERE I picked up the power, so I went ahead and graphed the comparison. To me, it's MUCH more interesting:

All in all, I picked up a good 15-60whp and 20-50wtq. within the powerband and the meat of the power is right where I wanted it with the cam.

Holy crap another E85 NA Vette!!!

I would love to share tunes love the numbers your putting down time to get mine in after paint next weekend to see the final numbers.

If you don't mind sharing tunes please let me know I would love to see someone else NA compared to what I have learned pretty much on my own. There is hardly any support for NA E85 use.

What Mile Per Gallon are you getting?

Yes sir! After talking to a few locals that have been running it for years with no issues I figured why the hell not. It definitely doesn't get much praise on CF, but then again most people there use their political bias for judgment and myths/rumors sure run rampant.

What sort of tune information are you looking for? I had my car street-tuned by Carl @ CJ Tunes ( http://cjtunes.com/ ). He's worked on countless LS cars and most of the e85 LS cars are locally tuned by him. I can not begin to describe what an incredible job he did. If there's any info. you're looking for that I can't answer, I can certainly ask him or you can contact him directly.

As for MPG it really depends. I honestly don't track it, all I track is my miles per tank. My commute is only about 10 miles but it's through 45mph with stop lights so my miles per tank is pretty awful - about 170-180 average. However, I went on a cruise a couple weekends ago, strictly highway, 60-65 with some spirited driving mixed in and my instant mpg's were anywhere from 26-30mpg and I got about 240 miles on 3/4 of a tank. It seems my highway mileage hasn't changed much, but certainly the city driving took a bit of a hit. To be perfectly honest, I could care less haha. My car runs so much cooler and longevity is preserved.

Thats about what I am getting although I have been fighting with the tune to conserve E85 and gotten to where 200-240 is possible during the week some times.

On tune information I was just hoping to share HPTuners files thats what I have been using to tune mine.

I paid a local who used to own a shop to tune it and well... quite a few looked at it and found it to be less than optimal is a nice way to put it. I have completely redone mine, I have made a lot of progress and learned a lot but your the only other person I have found that has done this. I had to look through Flex Fuel tunes and apply what information I felt I could.

I really would just like to see what kind of timing your running compared to min and other minor changes compared to mine. I am happy to send you my information first.

I will look at the link for CJ but I doubt he will release any information to me unless you allow it.

My modifications are:
243 Heads Milled
Comp Xtreme RPM XR275HR 222/224 .566/.568 @112LSA
Crane Gold 1.7 Roller Rockers
42lbs SVO Green Top Injectors
Fast 90 Intake Manifold Ported
LS2 90MM Throttle Body
BBK Intake Bellow and Cross Over
Blackwing Air Intake w/Ice Box
ASP 25% Underdrive Harmonic Balancer
Full Headers and Exhaust
Plus other goodies and bolt ons.

I am running 28 degrees of timing at WOT and 27 right before it.

I had my Car on E85 for a few weeks and took it off due to lack of stations in my area but the midrange torque was quite noticable. My gas mileage dropped from 27 to about 21-22 @ 70.

Cross-I have done quite a few E85 tunes and would be more than happy to take a look at yours. PM me if you are interested

I'm pretty sure Carl put mine on 28-29* of timing at WOT. Obviously, you can see my A/FR's are targeting right around 13 at WOT too. I know he uses HPT with an LM-1 for tuning as well.

Our mods are on a similar path, though my heads are stock size. My cam's a good deal more aggressive, but I don't have a FAST set-up and no UDP either.

I'll ask him if he can give you any helpful advice. I think he's a member on here too, but I'll see what I can dig up for you.
