First C5 Vette HELP! Alright, This is going to be my first Corvette and I am super excited to own one. I've always dreamed about owning a corvette and now heres the chance. I've came across a 1997 Black Corvette 6speed with only 28k miles on it. Asking price is 20k.

That's high for the year. You can pick up a Z06 for that, I'm not sure about an 04 with 28k on it, but none the less, you can pickup a Z06 for that money. Not sure what you are looking for, but know that the older the Vette, the more likely you are to have the little issues "pop up". For instance, the 97-00 have a PIA TPMS sensor that can cause issues with your entire traction control system and active handling. Just one example of something that can and will go wrong with time. Vettes are awesome, I own a 02Z myself, but be aware, like most women, they can love you right, and leave you broke.

Who has the car, is it a dealer? If you go over to CF there are a lot of cars for sale there and many are original owners. I would look for an 02 or newer myself to get the later piston design, later rings and likely an LS6 block.
