Do you know who did the heat treating of the 9310 shaft? Was it induction heated?

You had a nice cooler on that diff too didn't you?

Good luck w/ your fix. Up on blocks sucks.

Well, a major update and change of plan....

First, I have a new G Force mainshaft coming and I have my local T56 builder is going to go thru the trans and check it all out, replace anything it needs and install the new shaft...

Second, I bought a new 3 rib housing from GM along with new seals/o-rings, C6 pinion support and JDS99 is going to build me a whole new diff using my C6Z guts and DTE hardened shafts...

Third, I just bought an entire auto conversion (RPM Level 7) with ALL of the goodies and will be picking it up this weekend.....

*RPM Level 7 tranny w/brake, all fresh.
*Coan 3600 lock up converter
*SFI flex plate and SFI bell housing
*DSS 3.5" driveshaft and RPM poly bushings
*PCS Tranny controller
*Big *** tranny cooler and AN tranny lines
*Built diff with ECS/Eaton billet carrier/hardened shafts
*ECS tranny brace and Pfadt diff mount
*Shifter and other conversion BS.....

I will be selling all of my rebuilt 6 spd stuff, RXT, Tick MC, B&M shifter, torque tube etc etc after I get everything out and together.

I will update the thread with pics and info as I progress on... I can't wait... Hopefully this turd will go some 9.20s@150 after the swap...

Why 4l60 and not an 80? A 60 would worry me at your levels, regardless of how it was built.

A couple reasons...

First the 4l80 is huge and you have to cut the **** out of the tunnel and floor boards...it's a lot of fabbing to get an 80e in a C6/C6.

Second is the weight, the 4l80 and its supporting stuff is heavy as ****, probably adds 100-150 lbs over an M6.

Third is the parasitic power loss of the 80e... That big sucker gobbles up some power and I don't want to lose any more then I'm already giving up by going to an auto/converter...

There is C5s/C6s running high 8s on RPM level 7 4l60s so I am pretty confident it will hold up... Especially since ill only make 20-30 passes a year..

Update....

Started the auto swap. Also gutted the interior so I can install the Wolfe 6 pt roll bar and wire up the PCS tranny controller..

Back in pieces again...

Gotta get it all ready so I can get this bad boy up in there...

Ended up with this mess...

So DAY 1 summary:
Gut interior, remove Tick MC and clutch pedal assembly, remove manual TT, RXT clutch/flywheel... Got the pilot bearing out. Had to remove the headers which sucks..

Also got the new SFI flex plate installed and the Quicktime bellhousing.. What a bi*ch that was..... Freakin bell housing bolts ate my freakin lunch...

I wont get to work on it for a week or so..but next up will be wiring the PCS controller, run the harness to the tranny tunnel, install tranny lines/cooler, install shifter....finally install the main hoop on the roll bar and start that PITA project...

Slowly but surely...Hopefully I have it running in a month or so...

You ahhh....don't waste any time do you Alan?

So, 9.20's @ 150......I've heard of a yellow 70 Camaro with a "mild" 505 with only 820 at the crank that will mop you up. I think you might know the engine guy.........

Thanks guys..

Making a little progress... Got the new diff back from Jon and got it all together..

Fresh out the oven:
New GM 3 rib case, GM 3.42 gears, Eaton Trac-Aide differential with 300m shafts, C6Z billet pinion support. Blue printed to perfection by Jon (JD99)..

Here with the 9.5" Coan "3600" converter with billet front cover

Just gotta fill it up with fluid and its ready to go in..

Hopefully next weekend I'll have time to stab it in there...

Slowly but surely its coming together.. I also got the 6pt bar installed and 90% of the interior back in.. Hopefully it all works correctly..

RPM auto swap complete. I still have some fine tuning to do on the shift parameters and now apparently some engine tuning to do as well at part throttle/steady cruise, but its running again..

Tight fit with the 3" Catback for sure..

Big a$$ tranny cooler installed..

Looks like a factory installed auto inside

Tranny shifts VERY firm at part throttle, I love it. The 3600 Coan is pretty damn loose around town, its pretty much 2500-2700 rpms all the time when accelerating with traffic, definitely makes some serious noise with the F1r and twin BOVs.

Also, I have to throw props out to Todd @ RPM Transmissions. I called him atleast 4-5 times with questions and he took the time to help me every time, even though I bought the conversion second hand..(its about a year and a half old)..

I'm glad to finally have an RPM Trans product.

Hopefully I can get it all dialed in and cruise the car for the summer, then in the Winter, I will get it to the strip and start shaking it down.. Hoping for some 9.20@150+ after all is dialed in..

No, I don't think I took any pics of the bell housing. It fit well but was a PITA to install. Getting the perimeter bolts in(to the block) was hell...lol. Had to take the headers completely out to get the bell housing in, and these are 2" headers..

Cool deals man. Was trying to see how much lower yours is compaired to your original housing. My new quick time, seems like it hangs down under my oil pan quite a bit. Was just wondering.
