Well that didn't last long...
Sooo back in about Dec of '11 I picked up this:
She was an 01 m6 z51 and though she needed a couple of things, I loved her and she loved me back. But...due to having kids and going on a deployment it became very impractical for me to have two toy cars with no back seat, so when I came back I told myself I would be able to get rid of the vette and be just fine if I bought a truck for hauling the kids and general utilitarian purposes so in Dec of '12 I sold her. It was a very sad day in my life and I tried to be optimistic about the situation. I took the money, bought a truck to daily, and bought a bunch of goodies for the z28. I started to acquire a lot of parts to put together a very nice 4th gen and the car has been coming along great. But it just did not feel the same as it used to, I had owned f bodies for years and I had never had such an apathetic approach to piecing together a car. I was starting to acquire all of the parts I had wanted to build a badass street car. In between researching what I was going to get next though I kept checking out the market for c5's. Then came time to get the drivetrain for the car so I had the whole drivetrain priced out and in a cart and my wife saw the final total. She then turned and looked at me and said "how about this, instead of dumping another 5k into your camaro, why don't you just get another vette? The only time you were happy with any car you had it was when you had the vette." So I thought about it and decided to start seriously looking again to see if it would cure the apathy in my mind towards driving the camaro. Then I found the one, from the moment I sat in it and closed the door, I knew that this is what I was missing in my life. So last week I put the camaro up for sale and picked up my new money pit:

I'm in your shoes right now. I think i'm going to sell my WS6 and get a nice low mileage C5Z. I wan't either Electron Blue or Torch Red. Those are my two favorite colors.
Beautiful car man! Can't wait until I pick one up.

It is lowered on wcc bolts w/ c5z shocks. It currently has b&b lt's w/ catted x pipe, magnaflow catback, and a k&n intake. I will be putting the vararam from my old vette in, an ls6 intake, monster lvl 3 with tick mc, and swapping my plate kit from my Camaro to the vette. I think that will get me by for a little while.

Nice job. Also good job following your heart. Good lesson for fbody guys on the fence. Even if both cars where equal ( their not, but some think they are, refering to c5 only) the looks and staying power are way above the fbody. I've had vettes for over 20 years. Awesome cars. Yes I've had and modded some fbodies too. I haven't had an f body since the 99 anniversary car. That was modded and still lost to c5s.
A cam, intake, header c5 is an awesome car as its light! MODS have greater affect. I moved up to a modded c6 but still love the c5

Manfred, clean looking vette. Welcome back.
Normally I would tell you any day of the week to get out of an F body and into a Vette but, wouldn't a Firehawk pull some loot? I am sure your well versed in the value of it(i aint)but I would imagine other then an LT4 6 speed version...or some modern anniversary edition(LS1's)... I would think that your car would have some decent value to it. Maybe sell it for a pretty penny if the deal is right for you. Might make that possible transition much easier.
I will tell you, we have a couple different f bodies in the family, as well as a couple different kinds of vettes....and such... I will tell you, the Corvette will always a very unique feeling to me. Lots of fun owning a vette. They're attention ******. Your wife/girl will love it, then hate it.
