Default ss3200 or ss3600 ...

I have a 97 C5 A4, replacing tranny with RPM stage 4 and was considering either a yank ss3200 or ss3600. I will not be changing gears. Any one with a similar setup have any insight as to if the 3600 will be too much? I am leaning towards that one.

I guess I forgot to mention I have 2.73's. I don't mind some slipping due to higher stall. Any one has any personal experience with lower gears/higher stall? Thank you guys.

I had the SS3200 in my 08 Corvette. It makes for a great street converter but if you want to track the car then look into a looser converter. I would personally keep the 2.73 gearing and get the right stall converter. The SS4000 would even be a better choice if you track the car.

I had a PI 3600 in my 98 Camaro. It was about the equivalent of the Yank 4000. For me a little to loose for the street. For some ok for street. Sure made up for it at the track! Over .5 second et improvement.

I'm running a ss3600 and could not be happier... I would recommend the 3600. Nothing worse than regretting on not going bigger when you begin modding!

I have the SS3600 in my C5 with 3.42 gears. I love it, but it slips and slides all the time. Makes you drive with a soft touch.
On flat ground, its fine. But any little hill, and the rpm are at 2500-3000 depending on how hard you push on the gas.

It will cost you some city mpg for sure.

What is the goal with the car?

I Have a Yank PT4000 in my 3.15 geared coupe.

It's worlds better (tighter) than the SS3600 in my 02 SS

The lighter car makes it feel tighter. Much more pleasant to drive.

I have an ss3600 with 3.42s. I've cut 1.5 60' with it before and before and I'm only an exhaust and intake guy. As Ron mentioned you will sacrifice some mpg in the city, but other than that I have no complaints. It's still a relatively tight converter.

Jw, why're you keeping the 2.73s. It's a breeze to change the gears at the same time whilst doing the stall.
