Keith's '99 Corvette Build Thread
A few weeks ago I was contacted by gradykd21 to upgrade his '99 FRC while he is off in the Atlantic serving our Country. So it's my privilege to start this build thread to keep Keith updated on the overhaul of his car.
9/21/2013 - Delivered to my house - one 1999 Torch Red FRC with C6 wheels - makes a pretty good match with my '99 Torch Red FRC:
Upgrade plans include new heads, headers, intake, throttle body, camshaft, oil pump, timing set, lifters, and clutch.
As delivered engine bay is a little dusty and covered with pine needles. It will look quite different soon:
And after a couple hours of disassembly it was time to quit for the day.
Stay tuned Keith, and be safe out there. Thank you for your service

Keith, good to see that you received your remaining parts, and now Mr. C has it to begin the install. Nice car, trust me it is in good hands. Clyde was actually up at my shop Saturday tuning some of my buddies f-bodies. I am excited to see how it all turns out ( nice set of heads there ). Hopefully I'll get to see everything in person Saturday if I am not working. Clyde save some work for me LOL.

Spent about 1½ hours tonight pulling the steering rack, steering pump, and exhaust. Just clicking along like clockwork. I'll update with pictures when there is more to see - like tops of pistons...

Well, last night I had to tag-team my daughter's homework & we didn't get finished until 11 pm. I almost went out to work on it then but 5:30 am comes way too soon. This is the balance of time I have to live.

Spent another 1½ to 2 hours lifting off the passenger head and pulling the cam. Only thing left to dis-assemble in the engine is the crankshaft timing gear. Then it's time for cleanup and re-assembly. Won't get anything done tomorrow night with my Daughter in Homecoming at her High School and my Son coming home for the weekend. But Saturday will be a big work day.

Got 4½ hours of sleep and already at work now so I can leave early to drive in the Homecoming Parade this afternoon. Had a friend loan me a convertible C5 since my FRC kind of sucks for parades. When I showed my wife and daughter the sign I made for the car they told me I spelled "SOPHMORE" incorrectly. I need to get a spell checker for AutoCAD.
Put a quick tune on the convertible this morning. It gets plumb stupid when it shifts into 2nd gear on a cold morning now. I think he'll like the changes.
