Holdback, how much is it really on Corvettes?
Isn't this basically dealer net, before dealer specific incentives and volume bonus at the end of the year? So, the real question is this: This 2004 Z06 MSRP is $52,885 which means invoice is $46,367. Take $3000 off (Bonus Cash right now if you don't finance) and you are at $43,367.
So now it's how much more would be taken off for "holdback"? What I really want to know, does anyone know for sure, what holdback is on a new Z06 with an MSRP of $52,285? Or, does it vary as I have been told?
I have heard several numbers, I have heard it varies, for a number of reason, like: based on region, dealer size/volume, and supposedly the number of different brands a dealership may represent. Maybe I am confusing two different items, or am I?
I have heard "holdback" is anywhere from 2 1/2% of MSRP, 4%, 5% or , even 6% of MSRP,which would be from $1322, $2115, $2645 or $3173 respectively, on this Z06. I want a good deal, but I would like to know-- how much the dealer is really making on me.
What's the truth folks? Do I really need to see the dealers specific paperwork to know the truth?
Is $41,900 for a new 2004 Z06 worth it, especially with a new model coming out? AND, when I really want the new 2005 Convertible that will be out in January!
I do know this. If I take this deal, I will be regretting it come March. Is there any dealer out there willing to agree to a two car deal? Sell me a 2004 at a specific price, WITH the agreement that I can trade for a preset price for a new 2005 Corvette Convertible when it comes out. I sure would like to find a dealer willing to do this............AND have it on paper what it would cost to trade for a new 2005 Corvette convertible.

Which means, I have nothing......
I am willing to wait until later in the spring when prices, hopefully will soften a bit. I just refuse to pay full MSRP, I never have, and don't intend to. And, I was the first person in Iowa with a new 1984 Corvette! I have owned several but I just cannot bring myself to pay full sticker.
I may have to wait until 2006, but I can be patient. Now, you see why I was leaning towards buying a Z06 now.
How about it dealers???? Anyone willing to sell me a C6 convertible for $1000 under MSRP? I can wait until March, or April!

then you should check out a Forum that has 7 or 8 supporting dealers. Most are selling at MSRP, but several are already giving up to $500 off, and the 1st one isn't even built. By spring, they may give more than $1000 off. They're already giving $10-11K off C5s.

I just ordered my '04 Corvette from http://www.nationalcorvettesales.com/ Karl has competitive prices, is honest, nice, and VERY helpful. Yup, Karl is da man.
