Shifting trouble

Shifting trouble 2000 FRC, 1-2 to be exact. Shifts fine under normal acceleration, but when I'm on it I it simply does not want to go into second unless I double clutch. The shifter also has an overall vague feel to it in all gears.
Does anyone think lubrication and/or adjustment would help?
Synchros?
Aftermarket shifter?
Driving school?
Also - how difficult is it to get to the shifter to check things out?

None of the above. Its the clutch. Its not fully disengaging at high rpm WOT. This happens with all stock LS1 clutches when they go out. My advice is to replace the master, slave with new GM parts and put in a new aftermarket clutch disc and pressure plate.
The vague feel is normal, thats the stock shifter.
