Default Cam/head swap vs engine swap ?

Is there really anymore work involved to pull a engine out and installing a new one in a C5 . than doing a cam/ head swap ? Seems to me your almost there spending the time having to pull almost everything apart already for the cam/head swap .i have a buddy who has a fully built forged engine sitting on a stand . And figures why spend the time needed doing the cam/head swap . might as well just pull the old one and drop the new engine in .

I've never worked on a C5 but every time I've replaced head.gaskets on just about any v8 in the car/truck it was more work than puling the complete engine. Then you add in changing the cam and having to pull the balancer and making enough room in front of the engine to slide the old cam out and the new cam in I can almost guarenttee you it's going to more work than just pulling the engine complete.

Think of it this way, Your basically tearing the engine down to a short block in the car instead of just pulling it, Far less disassembly involved to pull it and probably a lot less headache.
