Not that hard, a lot of time consuming work though! There is an article from corvette fever that goes over the install, just look at their website and look it up.

Yank CONVERTER SS SOMETHING 5 to 700 rpm below peak TQ
You'll need a Better Transmission and soon after.
Do it all at the same time and only do it once,including Transmission
This is number 2 for me
