I don't plan on doing heavy mods to it, as it's my daily driver and I want it to remain completely reliable, plus I don't need to have any down time while getting mods done! I'll just stick to very basic stuff.

Where are you buying it from? I hope you don't tell me you're going to buy it from U Can Sales. I was supposed to buy a black 97 from them a month ago but the guy took forever to bring the car over the border (it is from Florida originally)

hell no...all their cars seem to have a million miles on them. i'm getting it from stedelbauer chev here in kitchener, and they 'found' it for me somewhere in toronto...i got the carfax/usda reports & it looks good. 32kms on it...i don't know if it's southern ontario or what, but i looked at 6 different 'vettes, then ran their VIN's & 4 of them came back with multiple owners, registered as fleet vehicles, sold at auctions...yadayada...one really has to be careful buying used if you're ever in k-town drop me a PM

Sounds like a good one Matt! You'll have to bring it out to St.Thomas for some drag racing sometime. The Toronto f-body guys will be going there on Sept 11 and Oct 16, and I plan on joining them.

I'm torn on the BSMs. I just know that as soon as I take them off, some fool
will hit me.

The sooner you take them off the better. Mine were on there for so long that the glue stuck to the car instead of to the BSM. So it took us 4 hours to finish the job! The guy who did them for me owns a detail shop, and he's removed about 6 or 7 sets, but all of the cars were newer ones. He says they came off much easier, as the glue mostly stuck to the BSM, so there was very little to remove from the car.

I was lucky that the original owner of my C5 took such good care of the black finish that you cannot see a difference in the shade of the paint under the BSM. He must've never left the car parked out in the sun at all.
