Will the new Z06 have variable valve timing?

There was talk of that but I kind of doubt that it will.
Might have 3 valves per cylinder though.

Thats the rumor. Before they were talkin of a like 6.7L 3V OHV setup in the Z that was going to have VVT and displacement on demand features aswell. I doubt it will, but the 3V (2 intake 1 exhaust) is pretty much the only "rumor" thats still stuck w/ the LS7

Well, the new mustang's are gonna have it ('05 GTs) and they happen to have 3 valves as well...

I dont see why GM wouldnt follow.....3v/VTC

Well the new gt's are also running high 13s low 14s in the quarter. The best I've seen was a 14.1 at 96, they are turds. Plus how dare you compare a GT with a Z06. You could have at least used a Cobra as an example, but they dont have the timing thing. Anyway, Variable timing and displacement on demand are wastes on a Z06. The timing needs to stay on the vtec hondas becasue they need every little noise they can get to claim hp. And the displacment on demand belongs in Cadys and luxuary cars. BUT there were pics of 3 valve heads from the LS7 a while back. I do know that it will have 3 valves and hopefully none of that other BS.

Variable Valve Timing would be a waste on a Z06??? Tell that to Porsche and their 4.5 liter turbo motor in the Cayenne...450hp @ 6000rpms and 460lb-ft tq. @ 2250 rpms...

Those numbers are why VVT pays off...I would sell the wife if the LS6 in my '02 Z06 made that kind of torque at 2250 rpms...We've got a liter and a quarter size advantage and can't make that much torque until we are twisting 4500 rpms...

I hope GM gets off their dead asses and does the job right this time when the new Z06 comes out...

Turbo vs NA. Big deal, VVT isnt what gives it 460 @ 2250, the turbo does. VVT is what makes a 4.5L have 450hp at 6000rpm. It would fall on its face at that rpm without it. That kind of torque is pointless in a 2900lb car.

I thought VVT was a way to have the best of both worlds. A high lift cam at high rpm for more power and a low lift cam at low rpm for a nice smooth idle. It's a nice way to get decent power in a drivable package. It's not needed for max power or you'd see it on top fuel dragsters.

VVT doesnt change the lift, as far as I know. It changes the advance of the cam. With DOHC, they can change the effective LSA.
