Default My brother's 01 c5 can't break the tires loose

My brother just picked up an 01 C5 with an A4 and 2.73's and 12k mi. With the active handling turned off, the tires wont break loose, at all, even from a dig. My last car was a 94 C4 A4 with 2.59's and I could go sideways in 1st and a good squak in 2nd gear. It feels like active handling/asr/TC what have you is still engaged even though it indicates on the dash that it is OFF. What gives. TIA

Tell your brother to put some pressure on the brake pedal, floor it and then to take his foot off of the brake. Then come back and tell us it won't break the tires loose.

Buy a used but good 3.42 geared rear. The auto will like that one.

I have 3.15's and they only seem to break loose in cooler weather. Chirps into 2nd occasionally.

In my 94 vette, I swapped the 2.59's for 3.73's. Bonestock I would go sideways after the shift to second in my A4. He'll probably end up going with 3.23's or 3.42's and a 3800TC.

There is a 3.42 geared rear with low mileage on the Vette forums right now. Might wanna check that out. I have a freind that has one also. Just found out he had one. Low mileage.

Mine gives a bit of sqeaul when I nail it and almost always a chirp into 2nd runnin' 2.73. Those gears will be replaced though when I'm done putting money in the other ride.
