Default ZO6 performance???

Well, I'll try and make this quick! I'm a current owner of a 95' Toyota Supra Turbo and I'm thinking about getting a zo6 in the near future if the outcome of this thread is positive!
Here is my question to you corvette guru's.
How hard is it to modify a zo6? My friend has a SS camaro and I know that you can do things to ls1's and what not. But the zo6 comes out of the factory pretty much modified to the extreme.
I was looking at getting a 02' zo6 and I'm curious as to what all you can do to up the whp? I mean can you do the normal, i/h/e? I know it already has the ls6 intake mani and cam, but are there bigger cams you can get that make it trap 120mph+ pretty easily?
I'm on stock twins right now and have run a 12.4@116mph on street tires! I'm around 400+ whp and I'm wanting something that will do 120+ trap easily like I stated before!
I could just go single with the supra and be very powerful, but I'm just looking for something new.
Could someone please explain to me how hard it would be to make a 450whp zo6? Please don't say supercharger, because I already know thats a possibility. But I'm wanting easy modifications, such as i/h/e and possibly a cam if needed.
I know its not as easy to get good whp numbers out of N/A's, but I would like to kinda get a ball park range of what different performance mods will yeild!
Thanks so much for your help guys,
Ryan G

LGM G5X3 Cam and stage 2 or 3 heads and headers will get you to 450RWHP easily and deep into 11s........of course you need air intake also

There are many 500RWHP H/C cars on ZO6vette.com

As usual, Cajun is right... If you want a very streetable setup, you can get a header/exhaust/intake/heads/mild cam and put down 400-425 and step it up to 450-475 with more agressive cams. Of course, the cheaper option is just an intercooled maggie or procharger will put you around there, and if you wanna do header/exhaust/intake/heads/cam with the blower and put down from 5-700hp depending on how aggressive you wanna go.

i have an 02 ZO6 and accomplished what you ask in your thread (see sig) ... i launch at 4000rpm on BFGs, if i had ET Street and launched at 6000rpm the car would be 10.9s .... LS6 modififcations are improving everyday, AFR recently came out with heads that are getting good results matched to moderate size cams i.e. very streetable and 450rwhp .... you can do air intake, headers, H/C, clutch, tune, gears and tires for about $5000 - $6000 and have a low 11 second car at 125 mph.

My car bone stock ran 11.60's@117.5-118.5 on ET streets, A few guys on the Z06vette forum have run even faster like 11.50's@119-120 on DR's on a good track. The cars are very quick when driven correctly, to get 120mph trap speeds all u would need is a aftermarket air intake, good weather and a tuning device such as LS1edit or Hptuners to get the max out of your setup. The next step would be headers-although bolting them on a stock Z06 the gains are not all that much-the factory manifolds flow very well. Then a cam and then lastly the heads and a Fast intake. This can put u around 450-480 rwhp. U can also add a an electric water pump but personally i have no faith in those(just my opinion). Gears are always an option and u will find the Z is undergeared from the factory-the limiting factor on the gears however is they will work great with tires but on the street your first 2 gears become useless.

you have to first realize that HP is a number you talk about w/ your friends, 450 dosent seem super impressive but on a Z06 450@the wheels is easy 10.xx on good tires and a good driver, but then take it on any road course or street twisties and the Z06 will still be whoopin azz!, the Z06 engine is not nearly maxed out from the factory, just the engine design and parts matching is a whole lot better, you will see major gains from air induction, heads, cam and tune, but w/ a stock Z06 allready running mid to high 11's, n/a 10's are within reach for under 4k!(not including tires

And just to add a little the Z06 is hardly modified to the extreme from the factory. Really what the factory gives you is just the tip of the iceberg. As everyone in this thread has mentioned, a moderate cam and long tube headers will have a Z06 damn fast for not a whole lot of cash.

LS6 maxed out? Not hardly! The biggest difference between a LS1 and a LS6 is the heads and cam, and the factory cam is pretty mild. My car with a Blackwing filter, high flow air bridge, Kooks long tube headers and 3" x-pipe w/ high flow cats dynoed 380 rwhp. I know guys who have hit 430 rwhp with just a cam and exhaust. I'll be posting my numbers with a cam soon.

Well put guys....

Vettes can be expensive to mod.....but fourms like this can cut the cost on mods....

I have over $12,000 in mods, rims, tires, etc.....paid $5,000 and will be near 400 rwhp in my vert when my long tubes get installed.....

I don't know why you want to sell the supra....that motor is indestructable.....larger turbo, intercooler, fuel mgmt systme and downpipe....I have seen some super fast supras......

I would not discourage you from the Z, but you are sitting on car that can run w/ the right mods....
