Post Is Magnaflow, a good exhaust system?

I have decided to the magnaflow exhaust with x-pipe for my C5, but i have a doubt that the borla exhaust doesn't stay to far behind. I need an exhaust that sounds bad ***. i'll also be getting an intake, long tube headers and ls1 edit to go along with the exhaust.

Ive heard Magnaflow and it is pretty nice. Personally, GHL is the best sounding C5 exhaust ive heard. I dont care much for Poorla, but B&B and Magnaflow are right behind GHL with Corsa bringing up the rest.

Here's a pic of GHLs installed on a C5. Do a search for GHL motorsports and you'll find the site and pricing. (dont want to link a non-sponser webpage in respect for our sponsers)

I have the Magnaflow w/X-pipe with cats and it is fairly quiet. I still need some headers and can't decide to go with cats or not. Magnaflow is a nice stainless piece and flows well.

Magazine did a dyno on stock c5 and gained 16 rwhp with the magna's. The others don't even claim these numbers. One reason the "WideOpen" works so well is the fact that it has true duals out each muffler. Yes, quiet in comparison to others, but everyone will know your running something special and when you get on it you'll know for sure you made a good decision. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Is Magnaflow a good exhaust system?

Hell yes! I had a MagnaFlow exhaust system on my '99 Camaro SS and was so pleased with it I didn't consider anything else for my 'Vette.

I have Corsa and it screams at wide open throttle and is very quiet for me and my lady when we go on cruises. Its the best of both worlds. I dont know how much power it gave me but it was felt and the time slips show it also!

Go for the GHL less resonance inside and louder outside than the Stinger. Also GHL stay alligned easier.

I started with loudmouths. Gone (to loud). I swapped to Ti's after the heads and cam. The thing I would recommend is getting together with your local guys and hear each exhaust. And then take into account what mods you plan on doin. The Ti's sounded ok stock (probably to quiet) but now with the heads/cam/longtubes they sound pretty nice. You can hear it at idle. Definately makes noise at 2k, but at WOT it sounds pretty wicked.

And nice setup pdd... I got the smaller FAST with stock TB. But whats up with that time? 3.0 60ft's?

It is all subjective as someone else mentioned. I mean you've gotten recommendations for GHL, Magnaflow, Corsa and B&B. Not to mention there's still Poorla, Flowmaster, Mufflex (I believe they'll use whatever muffler you want, but usually their "kits" are Spintech or Flow's) out there still. I dont think you can really go wrong w/ any of them, but you may wanna get one other people like being you wont hear it while you're smokin 'em

I just had my GHL magnums installed wednesday and I cant get the smile off of my face. I knew a LS1 with exhaust sounded good but not this good. My advice would be to listen to a few in person if you can, then make a decision.

dont forget to find out which ones resonate or which ones dont. corsa does not at all. borla does a little. it gets worse with headers/cats. and honestly i havent spent anytime in the others to say if they do or dont.

To all those who had the slp unit. Was it just the catback system that was loud or did you have full exhaust?
