1 K&N Filter ($60) and it looks like I'm in business. Granted, I don't expect it to flow as well as some of the after market systems. But, combined with the cold-air screens ($70) on the front, it seems to be making a nice difference.
Anyone else go this route? However, once I saw how the lid was designed on the inside, it became obvious I wasn't going to be doing all of that cutting. Besides, the MAF sensor is only 85mm in diameter. That means there's only 26cm² for the air to pass through at that point. So, I figured an 8x3 inch hole in the lid would be more than enough to allow air to flow through without the lid being a restriction. The restriction in the whole system now is the filter. Since this was done without any instructions, the best advice I can give is think it through first, use a dremel and take your time. Then file it down and install. Hope that helps some...
