Question Paper air filter vs K&N

Hi, I just did the zip tie mod on my stock air intake box of my 99 coupe, I did notice a difference across the entire RPM band.

Does anyone have any info on the stock paper filter element vs the K&N stock replacement (retangular shape)

Flow comparisons?
filtering comparisons?
breathability?
usable area (square inch area of media)
advantages/disadvantages

thanks in advance.

It is when you remove the upper portion (lid ) of your air cleaner assy. and hold your filter (in the lower portion of the air cleaner assy) with long zip ties.

The air box lid is the most restrictive part of the C5. It's free, and from what i've read comparable to the popular $200-400 air intake mods. Instant results.

Click on 'search' on this forum and type in 'zip tie mod' or 'modified air box'
you'll see pictures and much more info and dyno results.

be carful, if you do this and open your hood while it has water on it , the water will run onto the now exposed air filter. I cant say Ive ever opened my hood had water on it, but its good to know. and maybe consider a rubber hood seal for the front section , so when the hood is closed water wont come in, where the hood meets the nose section.

good luck.

i just recently went from the zip tie mod to an ebay intake and noticed a little better sound and a little bitter more SOTP power...though my filter could have used a good cleaning during the zip tie trial
