Default OK I need a C6 expert here to answer a question for me

Alright, I'm still on my never ending quest to find a hardtop C6... and I'm gettin all kinds of different answers from different dealers so maybe someone here can help me out.

Right now I'm in chicago and I've talked to two corvette "experts" @ different dealerships and one told me that they are only making a hardtop on the new Z06 and the other told me that they're not making a hardtop at all.

My dad in MI talked to a couple different guys and one told him that the hardtops are gonna be on the lots ready to buy in Sep. of next year and one told my uncle that you can order one right now and get it in about 6 months.

I'm goin nuts over all these different answers. My hopes keep rising and falling and I need some type of concrete answer. Can anybody help me out???

Though I'm certainly no expert, I have not read any articles that state there will be a fixed roof version of the C6. Speculation on the C6 Z06 have it coming with the targa roof. Honestly as stiff as the chassis is on these cars I can't see it making an appreciable difference. Even on the C5 the difference is very minimal.

i think your quest is going to end up much like the quest to find an LS1 TA without ttops. many "experts" will say its out there, but the fact is its not.

from what i know there will not be a hard top C6 at all. even the Z06 is supposed to have a targa. who knows though. i think it would look good personally, but i really like the FRC C5 vettes

Interestingly enough I will have to contradict my own post. The following is from an interview with Dave Hill.

DH: The Z51 performance package represents a fantastic performance upgrade for the targa roof coupe and convertible, with overall performance very close to 2004 Z06 levels with greater driving ease, comfort, features including open air, at a substantial price reduction from Z06. The next Z06 will continue with the formula which began in 2001 and has been so successful: a car specifically created for the extreme performance enthusiast. The fixed roof configuration enables it to be the stiffest, lightest possibility, and that does upgrade its performance and handling. Figure on a fixed roof Z06 while I'm here. And if you want something else, we have great targa coupes and convertibles availible right now.
