Air Intakes... Ok can you guys shoot me some opinioins on what Air Intakes seem to be the best out there.
Right now i'm looking into:
Vortex Ram
Blackwing
VaraRam
not so much the K&N ziptie mod.....i'm just not keen on having anything ziptied under the hood
Which of these do you guys seem to prefer?

Yeah snowdogs right, Ive had a blackwing for over 50k and no problems. Cleaned it once and works really well. Also spend the little extra money and do the cold air screens. Then it basically works as a ram air and brings the engine compartment temperature down quite a bit.

I also use the black wing. I have found a free mod for the black wing is to cut the shroud the air box sits on. I measured the black wing then traced it out with a white chalk pen then went behind it and cut out a rectangle. I kept the measurments within 2 inches of the sides of the air cleaner on all sides so it still had something to sit on. I will get pics of it this weekend to show you what I am talking about.
If you do this keep the black wing cover on the top. I took the top off once to see if the car would get more air but it go to much and started to shut off at full throttle when I would let off the gas pedal and put it in neutral and slow down. I have never had a issue with the shroud cut underneath it in rain. I have driven the car in many down pours.
Evere since I did that free mod I swear the cars pulls so much harder up top. I have raced a full heads cam ls1 from a roll that had a stall and slicks and we went from 20 to 100 and I was at his door with my front bumper when all said and done. NOVI was in my car when it happened. I dont know whats up with my car but it runs hard and has so much top end it feels like the power will never end until I have to shift.

I have the new Vararam VR-2 on my 447 set-up. Fit and finish is improved from the VR-1. Easy to clean filter also. Seems to really help my set-up at the top end of track when the air is really moving.

If your looking for the best performing filter, you cant beat the vararam. I went from a blackwing to the VR and picked up .5 and 3MPH. The da at the track was a little better but I bet I picked up at least .2 in the 1/4. If you are interested in my blackwing, it only has a couple thousand miles on it. I will give it to you with the cleaning kit for $150. I live up the road in fallbrook.
