01 z06 im looking to buy an 01 z06 next spring...but before i do i want to learn as much as possable about them...i know just about every thing on the ls1...just not the corvette in general...any one know of any sites that i can look at to do some research?

Actually z06vette.com has some great articles on the different years. People will say 01's suck because of oil consumption but that is just a bad rap most of us with 01's don't really have much of a problem.

I dont have a 2001 or a Z06 but i know a couple of people who do. The 01's had a problem with the piston rings. This can either be good or bad. The vette shop I deal with has replaced the motors in a couple and had a couple of factory freak cars putting out alot more horsepower than they should have. One of my friends has one like this. Other than that I think their great cars and have the best year for Z06 rims too. 
If you can find a white one. BUY IT! Great cars. The whole oil bruning thing personally I think its bs. all ls1 cars do. Some burn about a qt in between changes some burn less. I have never heard of any burning more than a qt though. When I change my oil I just buy 7 qts and keep one handy in case.

Just buy it! I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and fell completely in love with it. I love my LT1 ragtop, but it's a totally different car to drive. The Z06 is light and quick, has 3.42s standard and the gear box is sweet. Mine is stock and gets scratch in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. It'd probably get it in 5th, but I'm going too fast by then to try it. The steering and brakes are lightyears better than my Camaro. The closest thing I can compare it to is driving a gocart. lol

385hp is still plenty for most people even if the 02s have 405hp. And ive seen Speedway White Zs in great condition, and under 30k miles for 25-27k. If i had the dinero, i'd pick one of those up in a heartbeat...but alas, im like every other college guy - broke as hell

I really like it and if not for the guys around here it might still be stock
.I had the dealer re-ring mine due to oil consumption (consumption is due to ring flutter above 2000-3000 RPM - during cruise). No oil consumption now.
