Default 12 bolt?

Do Z06's come stock with a 12 bolt instead of a 10 bolt? Just wondering.

oh man your miles off... I allmost think this post is just a joke to see what people will say.... you do know that vette's have independant suspension right? a 12bolt and a 10bolt are straight axles, completely different set up... if your wondering about strenth.. I understand that the stock rears are about equal to a dayna44.. but you can also get rear houseing/transmission braces... go search for undercarrage pics of a C5

no biggy man. the ring gear is actually pretty small, but theres a lot of meat on it. the pinion is short and fat, very odd looking.

Dana?? This is a Getrag rear end, they make the transmissions for Porsche. The pinion is very odd looking because the output shaft of the transmission slides inside. It also sits in back and on top, unlike most rear ends.

I think the dana rears were in the C4s. Either a Dana 36 or a Dana 44.

yeah i dont know. i need to ask my german aunt i guess.

metal thats right. all auto C4s had the dana 36, and all manual C4s had the 44. i think though the 84s all had dana 44s, not sure on the 84s, not exactly a common year to find.
