Default gear change

I was under the impression if I want to change my gear ratio I would have to change the chunk in the rear, but I found this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33731 will this work?

It works as long as you know someone that can set them up in the rear for you. I was going to do that until I could NOT find anyone to install them. Everyone told me it took special tools that they did not have, nor did they want to buy them. It is easier just to buy the whole differential.

I know a shop in maryland who can probably do it. he is known around the United States as one the better Corvette shops.

He only deals with Corvettes and he is so professional its sickining.

Tonys corvette shop, Gaitherburg Maryland.

You can call Motive Gear 800-934-2727 and talk to the sales dept. Tell them you need a shop that does rear installs in the Atlanta area and they will hook you up. You would probably be better off finding a Corvette specialist though.

Yeah, especially since you have to drop the torque tube to get the drive shaft out, among other Corvette specific procedures.

it (TT) can be just tilted down - doesn't need be actually removed.

if your near snellville let me know and ill get you a number for a guy that can do them no problem. it is easier to change the chunk out since there will be no down time, but it could be cheaper in the long run to have new gears installed. definetly go with the 3.90s. id also recommend letting someone with the experience and equiptmet do the work. dropping the rear craddle and suspension isnt easy if your not prepared. its a heavy, bulky setup.
