Default C5 Z06 vs C6

I am going to buy one of these cars. Which one should I buy and why? What is specifically different? How does each one compare in speed, handling, etc. Of course the LS2 Z06 would be nice but not in my price range

For the prices an 02-03 Z06 is going for right now, you'de be crazy not to get the Z06. It will outperform a C6 (for now) and save you about 15 grand. Although I would love a C6 myself, I would never buy a car the first year it comes out. Get the Z and replace it with a C6 z in 3-4 years.

Many opinions here:

Dave Hill said in a interview that the current Z06 handles better than a C6 according to the track testing they did. And the current Z06 is still lighter than a C6. Also you can get a used, low mileage Z06 depending on year and mileage for around $36k - 38k. You can get one cheaper if you go for an early year. A new C6 is hard to find under $50k.

There is no LS2 Z06, it will be a LS7 Z06.

I just bought a 2005 C6 a few weeks ago. I love it.

The Performance is almost ( = ) to the Z06, but the Z06 still had a lead on it barely but its there.

The 6.0 in the LS2 has a TON of potential though. It is begging to be modded.

The Handling seems fairly better on the C6 then on my old 2004 Z06. (Both are lowered)

Good luck with your purchase!

man both of those cars look kick ***

The reason both of these are in my price range is cause for a new car you can get more payments (months) with lower interest since its a new car. So they are about the same price monthly wise. As of now it looks like im going for the Z06.

G-Z06,
Every article I have read stated the C6 with the Z51 suspension package was close to a C5 Z06 in performance. But as I stated above, even Dave Hill (Corvette Chief Engineer) said that the C6 does not perform as well as the 04 Z06. So perhaps it is close enough that you want to believe it is better.
