Anyone else think GM dropped the ball on the new Z06 styling?

Yeah, but a wolf in wolfs clothing makes the sheep get the hell outta the way Sleepers are all well and good, but for the suspected price the Z06 is going to cost, I would want a wolf to look like a wolf.

Well all I can say is I agree on the hood point... I myself would throw on a C6R hood after buying the car...
The fender flares are nice, but the cooling ducts are a little "autozone" looking... I did like the C5 Z06's better...
And I'm going to make the point about the C6 Z06 that I always do and nobody else does... It should have been a notchback... that back window is waayyy to ******* big for that little car... maybe some very dark tint might help it, but either way it should have been a notchback...
I would love to find somebody to do some type of photoshop job with it or even sketch one with a notchback...

i think the new vette looks awesome. the one and only thing i think could have been added was a 427 badge somewhere cause when you come from the factory with something like that, you gotta brag and show it off. oh and those tiny rear brake cooling ducts should be larger, they look out of place. to the people saying they dislike the looks cause to ordinary ppl it will look like any other C6, so what, thats better for you if you own one. think about it, you pull up to a cocky C6 owner not knowin much or any other Vette hater not knowin you're a Z and BAM! you leave them thinkin "where'd he go?"
all in all, i love the new look especially the fender flares and im glad GM decided to keep the coupe style rear glass. i hated the notchback look of the other Z's

I know I'm biased, but I like the FRC look instead of the sloped rear window (i.e. coupe). That was the only thing that disappointed me. I know that GM has had a hard time selling FRC's and Z06's and I know that its probably a better aero design, but like 427 said, look at the new Viper coupe, they got it right.

The only thing that is cool is that you can probably minitub it and fit a 13" or maybe a 14" rim in the back with the fender flares. The styling isn't that different either. The grills in the front and sides are awful, they need to put mesh screens in there. No removable top, no thanks. I'll keep my nassau blue Tigershark coupe which has way better styling, more hp, and a removable top for less $$.

Wow, that is what makes the world so interesting... different opinions. I love the rear sloped rear window design on my Coupe v. the chopped off look of the C5 Z06. 
Plus, just as you mentioned the Coupe has a better aerodynamic design, and I like the option of removing the Targa top. BTW, I really like the HUD on my C5, but I think the 2001 Z06 did not have that option? Nevertheless, straight from the factory the C5 Z06 definitely has a head start in performance over the C5. I say just mod up the C5 Coupe.

I think you have every right to favor the C6
over the C5 , however your waaaaay off base if you think I'm jealous of the C6 just because I'm PO'd with Gm for not leaving well enough alone. IMHO, the C6 looks more like a C5.5, or a C5A. I do like the suttle differences the C6 Z06 offers over the C5, yet I fear the $$$ of that C6 Z06 Super Car when it arrives at the Chevy Dealership.BTW, some of the C4 guys truly like their Vette over the C5. Now, in retrospect I can at least appreciate there C4 preference, just as I prefer my C5 Coupe over the C6 Coupe, as well as the C4.
Okay, I'll stop now.

GM is really dropping the ball all over. Talking about bringing back the Camaro without it's rightful twin (which is the better car anyway, but nevermind. ), dropping the Holden chassis'd GTO, and totally ruining the Corvette's look.
As I'm sure I've mentioned before, I'm a huge Corvette fan. Always have been. In fact, I like them so much that I can't bear the thought of modifying them. Old ones at the very least. (and that's why I don't own one as I know I'd want more performance - but this was before the C5 Z06, and that was something I couldn't afford. And by that time, I had become a die hard Trans Am guy, but I digress....)
The C6 looks like a damned Camaro. It's disgusting (IMO - not a slam on you guys that like it). And the scoop doesn't help it. It looks better with a flat hood. And the C6R looks better still. But better in the same sense that the Shelby GLHS looked better than the standard 80's 4 banger "charger".
Now, having said that, it is growing on me, but only slightly and slowly. The C5 is the best looking modern 'Vette. They don't comapre to the C2s or even the C3s or late C1s.
The idea of the '67 big block scooped hood on the new one seems like it might not be half bad. Would be great to see a photochop of.
Someone mentioned the change from 5 to 6. The change from 4 to 5 seemed the same as well (since we're speaking visually). I mean, look at the late C1s ('56 on), then the C2s, then the C3s, then the C4s. Subtle cues linked one into the next (and usually on the back it seems - the C1s got a tail much like the C2s, the C3s took the C2 and exaggerated it, sinking the car lower creating larger flairs, then they got the fast back glass used in the C4.), but they were near total redesigns. The 4 and 5 look almost identical, with the 5 just having some superfluous touches to make it look a little different.
